Dylan Miley: 5 things you need to know about WWE's next Brock Lesnar

Vince McMahon has always had a liking for agile, explosive monster heels. In the past, the WWE has had Vader, Bam Bam Bigelow, Big John Studd, King Kong Bundy etc., all monstrous big men with explosive agility and remarkable in-ring talents.

But even with all of these guys, there has been nobody in the history of WWE quite like one Brock Lesnar.

Brock Lesnar is literally the Beast Incarnate. Oft-hailed as a once-in-a-lifetime athlete, Lesnar has conquered everyone and everything in his path to becoming the most dominant athlete in sports entertainment history and is most certainly a future Hall of Famer.

Having debuted in 2002, Lesnar has had a well-decorated career spanning across 15 years in the WWE, however, at the age of 39, even though Lesnar might have several years left in the tank until retirement, the Beast is not going to be around forever.

WWE know this and recognise it all the same, which is why they’ve been quietly building up a replacement for him in the shadows.

Enter Dylan Miley.

The 28-year-old Dylan Miley is an NXT Superstar and has been training in WWE’s performance centre for over three years now.

Standing at 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing in at over 300 pounds and built like a truck, Dylan Miley has been one of WWE’s best-kept secrets in a very long time and could well and truly be the man that does end up filling in the big shoes of Brock Lesnar, once the latter hangs them up for good.

Today at Sportskeeda, I’m going to take you through five things that you should definitely know about this monster of a man, WWE’s next Brock Lesnar, the next BIG thing, Dylan Miley.

#5 He was the tag-team partner of Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman is now the “monster among men” in the WWE. However, prior to his debut on the main roster as a part of the Wyatt family, Strowman was in the NXT performance centre.

What most may not know is that Braun Strowman is a former powerlifter, and because Dylan Miley also comes from a powerlifting/strength training background, the two of them were put together as a team.

The monstrous tag team worked together on many occasions before being split up. When Miley does find his way to the main roster, he may end up facing off against his former partner. Only the best man will prevail!

Let’s talk about the praise Miley has received from some of the very best!

#4 He has earned high praise from Triple H and Kevin Owens

Dylan Miley is a heavily built, explosive, agile wrestler. He comes from a highly athletic background and is said to be incredible in his in-ring movements, his mic skills and his natural charisma.

Triple H, on one of his visits down to the NXT performance centre, took notice of Dylan Miley and was said to be so impressed by the big man that he relayed specific instructions to the NXT staff to monitor his progress and to pay him extra attention.

Triple H was also the one who reportedly came up with Miley’s gimmick, which we’ll talk about in the next slide.

Kevin Owens, on the other hand, was so impressed by Miley’s mic skills that he ended up tweeting out the following from his old handle:

“Can we get @DylanMWWE to like 1000 followers before the end of the day? If he tweets like he talks, you’ll all thank me for it!”

Dylan Miley’s talent has thus been endorsed by both Triple H and Kevin Owens and that could only mean good things for the big man going forward. In the next slide, we’re going to talk about his physical attributes.

#3 His hands are as big as Andre the Giant

Miley’s gimmick down in NXT is that of a wrestler with massive hands. The gimmick, as previously stated, was reportedly coined by Triple H himself and Miley has been going with it ever since. This is the reason why you’ll often see Miley posing for photos with his hand extended.

Here’s another picture of Miley’s hands, compared to that of a normal, adult human:

Not an exaggeration

But not only are Miley’s hands as big as Andre the Giant, but the rest of his body is also built like a Rock Golem. Miley is truly a very, very strong human being and would be a terror for all the wrestlers on WWE’s main roster whenever he makes his debut.

He might even use “The Claw” as his finisher! If there’s one wrestler who can pull it off, it’s him. Miley currently uses the diving headbutt as his finishing move, however.

Let’s talk about Miley’s friends in high places next!

#2 He is close friends with Sasha Banks

Sasha has promoted Dylan several times

Sasha Banks and Dylan Miley struck up a friendship when the two were training together in the WWE performance centre in Orlando, Florida.

Banks ended up moving to NXT TV and subsequently graduated to the main roster. She hasn’t forgotten her old friend, however, and has gone out of her way to promote Miley several times via her Twitter account.

Here’s one of such tweets by the Boss:

Go follow @WWENXT newest superstar @DylanMWWE he's going to be BIG!!!
— notorious SB (@SashaBanksWWE) October 2, 2014

Miley, too, has posted several messages on his Twitter account, promoting Sasha.

The two are really good friends in real life. Could their real life connection cross over to a storyline where Dylan joins her on the main roster as a bodyguard? Such a storyline could possibly work if Sasha turns heel. Sasha could also be Dylan’s manager, only time will tell!

Next, let’s talk about the time that Brock Lesnar himself came face to face with Dylan Miley.

#1 Brock Lesnar has trained with Dylan Miley

Miley impressed Lesnar at WrestleMania 31’s Axxess NXT event

Brock Lesnar is usually a quiet person backstage and keeps to himself. He is not known as someone who goes out and expresses his opinion about other Superstars too often. In Dylan Miley’s case, however, Lesnar made a very notable exception.

Dylan Miley, who comes from a very similar athletic background to Lesnar, has a 37-inch vertical leap, has trained in mixed martial arts and was also an ex-football player. Miley has a very similar muscular frame to Lesnar and is also said to be very athletic and “gifted” on the mic.

Miley worked at the NXT events for WrestleMania 31 Axxess. This was reportedly where Brock Lesnar first noticed him and was apparently “blown away” by Dylan’s aforementioned talents.

Lesnar trained with Miley and had high praise for him

Lesnar subsequently ended up “quietly” flying out to Orlando to have a one-on-one training session with Miley. After the training session, Lesnar, as per reports, has had nothing but praise for Miley and his skills.

Could this mean that Lesnar himself approves of a passing of the “Beast Incarnate” torch to Miley? Again, only time will tell.

Miley still hasn’t made his debut on NXT TV, but now that he has trained in the performance centre for over three years, it could only be a matter of time until we see him finally get on television. The high praise that Miley has received from his peers as well as the bosses themselves makes him a clear candidate for a promotion, very soon.

We leave you with a video of “the next big thing” Dylan Miley overhead squatting 147 Kilos (325 pounds) like it’s nothing:
