For the next free weeks, Vince McMahon feuded with Gowen, with his daughter Stephanie siding with the latter.
On the June 10, 2003, edition of WWE SmackDown, Zack Gowen and Mr. McMahon went at it in an Arm Wrestling Contest, with Vince picking up the win. Around the same time, Hulk Hogan quit WWE and was 'fired' by McMahon in a storyline.
A month later, Vince McMahon faced Zach Gowen at Vengeance 2003 and defeated him to put an end to the feud. Vince McMahon went on to involve himself in Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle's matters, leading to a Steel Cage match between him and Lesnar on an episode of SmackDown, with Angle as special referee.
Lesnar turned heel that night, kicking off a feud with Angle and siding with Vince McMahon. Gowen didn't do much of note over the next few months and was released in early 2004.

He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
