The WWE Royal Rumble took over the ThunderDome last month and signaled the beginning of The Road To WrestleMania. Whilst the Royal Rumble matches were the highlight of the night, there were also several Championship matches that also took place, including the Universal title match between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens.

The Last Man Standing match obviously had a botched finish, since Kevin Owens was forced to sell a low-blow for several minutes, as Roman Reigns struggled to get out of a pair of handcuffs, whilst the official stopped his count for no reason.

After the match, several fans took to social media to make it clear that they had seen the botch, which forced Kevin Owens to speak in character about what he believed happened.

This is what Owens had to say on a recent appearance on the Jake Asman Show.

“I’ve never been cheated by a referee that way before. He [Reigns] brought handcuffs, I handcuffed him to something and I thought I had him, I really did have him. Some screw-ups from the referees and here I am, sitting in my car without the Universal Championship.”

It appears WWE believes that Kevin Owens was screwed out of the Championship, too, since the former Champion has continued his feud with Reigns following the match.
