#2. Roman Reigns wanted to turn heel for his return at WWE SummerSlam 2020

After the break-up of The Shield, Roman Reigns became one of the biggest babyface superstars in WWE. Even when fans did not get behind The Big Dog, WWE continued to push him as a babyface.

After taking a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Reigns returned to WWE SummerSlam 2020 to take down Braun Strowman and "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt. It was soon clear that Reigns had returned as a heel to begin a new journey in WWE.

During an interview with Fox Sports, The Tribal Chief was asked about his heel turn and who was behind the idea.

"I’ve always wanted to turn heel," Reigns said. "I didn’t feel like I should have been the babyface out of the Shield group."
"So, it was one of those things where it was like, 'Man, I want to do this because I know I can tap into a different level of character work. I know I can create so many more layers as a performer if they allow me to do this, but the numbers just wouldn’t let me."
"When the opportunity came I jumped on it. It was kind of a team discussion. Obviously, you gotta have the big man involved and gotta have the blessing from him. But, it just all seemed to work out with perfect timing," Reigns said.

Roman Reigns has since been the greatest heel in all of WWE. He’s held the Universal Championship for almost a year now and has taken down the biggest men in the industry to retain his title.
