5 Twists that might happen at the WWE Draft

Balor is rumored to join the main roster

The most anticipated thing coming from WWE this month is the Draft to determine which superstars will move to SmackDown and which one of them will stay on Raw. Brock Lesnar is speculated to be a part of that show and we will get to know which McMahon will be running which show.

The draft has been one of the most interesting inventions the company has seen. The build up to the drum roll as to who gets picked for which show always leaves you excited. The final moment is something of relief or utter breathlessness. The Draft returns after 5 years. It was in 2011 that the company put a stop to the Draft and the brand split. Some shocking moments are bound to unravel.

Here are the 5 twists that can happen at the draft

  1. Balor shows up

Finn Balor is set to end his duties at NXT

Ever since he lost the NXT Championship, Finn Balor’s main roster debut has been much anticipated. This was Balor’s first loss when he was performing as The Demon. And now we get a passing the baton match against Shinsuke Nakamura.

This is all a build up to his eventual farewell. His arrival to the main roster can come as early as July 19th. Not SummerSlam or any other PPV but the draft pick. Many NXT call ups are set to be made and one would like to believe that Bayley too is in that list. The NXT call-ups will provide a major boost to both shows.

  1. Who runs the show?

Will the sibling rivalry continue?

Of course, the Draft will have two parties colliding to make a claim on it. The two parties need a face. Shane and Stephanie McMahon have been taking turns in running Raw alone for the past few weeks and it would be ideal for Vince McMahon to open the show by announcing which one of his children will be handling which show.

Or are we really sure that it’s going to be someone between them who’ll be handling the show? Is there a possibility of someone other than a McMahon taking over SmackDown?

  1. Big returns

Angle has been hinting at a return for a long time

It has been speculated that WWE is been scouting for some old stars to return to the main roster for the brand split. Instead of leaving the roster thin because of the division, it is only logical to think about what old stars can do in this new era.

Just imagine if Kurt Angle’s music suddenly hits the arena. He’s been talking about a return for quite some time now. What if Goldberg returns? He’s already made a video game appearance recently. While these two are far-fetched, one cannot rule out a Carlito or a Shelton Benjamin return.

  1. Title conundrum

Will the Women’s division have two titles?

Moving and shaking things up will require one to get ready for a lot of changes. SmackDown and Raw will be two different shows with different superstars. That will mean that the prize each wrestler fights for should also be divided.

As far as rumors go, there will be separate PPVs for each show and some common ones as well. Does this mean that there will be new titles for the Women’s and Tag Team divisions? And a new title that is equal on paper to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? Will they be revealed on July 19th?

  1. Breaking up successful acts

Will alliances like Lana and Rusev be drafted together?

This one’s either a huge gamble or a big no-no. Breaking up a successful act has never been an easy task to follow. Rest assured, there will be shocking draft picks where big stars are split up on rosters, champions move and maybe all three former members of the Shield will not be on the same show.

But what could be a game changer is if a successful team is broken up. What if New Day or Enzo and Cass are broken up? Or if Rusev is drafted, does that mean that Lana will be drafted as well? If Brock Lesnar is drafted, does that mean Paul Heyman goes with him? It remains to be seen.
