We are just over two weeks away from WrestleMania 33 and boy oh boy is the card shaping up nicely. With 11 matches already announced and more likely to come, the Orlando extravaganza is setting up to be one of the biggest editions of the showcase of the immortals in history. However, one bout that is causing a lot of debate right now is the supposed main event of the evening.
Brock Lesnar is set to challenge Goldberg for the WWE Universal Championship in a match that will blow off their long-term feud that goes all the way back to WrestleMania 20. Goldberg has bested The Beast during both of their previous encounters, with many feeling that now is the time for Lesnar to get his own back and finally defeat the former WCW legend.
Obviously, it leaves us with a part time champion one way or another, but that's another issue for another day. Regarding the actual match, the booking is going to be fascinating, with very few fans having a concrete idea in their head of how it's going to transpire. There's a range of possibilities, and that's the best thing possible for a match of this nature.
With that being said, here are five ways to book Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg at WrestleMania.
#5 Goldberg squash
Hold on, hold on - there's a reason behind this, we think. Maybe Brock Lesnar has decided to opt out of his contract earlier than we anticipated and that's why we're getting this match once again at WrestleMania. Maybe, just maybe - this was set up all along to make Goldberg look like the only man who could actually defeat Brock Lesnar.
The fans would not be happy with this is in the slightest, but perhaps there are two ways in which to make this feel a little bit less of a slap in the face. First of all, don't have it be the main event and put Wyatt vs. Orton for the WWE Championship in that position instead. Second of all, make the match at least go a little bit longer than 90 seconds. Maybe even three minutes?
Now we look at the other end of the stick.
#4 Lesnar squash
Once again, please put down your knives and pitchforks. Brock Lesnar needs to make it look like he's an entirely different animal in this match, and one way to do that is by having Goldberg be the one who gets complacent this time around. Lesnar could come firing out of the blocks much like we've seen him do in UFC fights in the past, completely catching the champion off guard.
It could have the same kind of feel to it as Lesnar's match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31 did, however, this time round Goldberg doesn't kick out after the F5 within the first two minutes. It would certainly be shocking and a bit insulting, but once again if you don't have this positioned in the main event slot, then people probably wouldn't hate it as much.
We stick with the MMA ideology for this next point.
#3 One lucky shot
Considering how little time Goldberg has actually spent competing since returning to the squared circle, we're going to go ahead and assume that this match will be a bit longer than his usual ones. Obviously, we could be completely wrong, but we're choosing to believe that we'll actually get something resembling a proper wrestling bout this time around.

If that happens, we like the idea that either Goldberg or Lesnar are in complete control following a good five to ten-minute brawl - until one of them gets caught. Whether it's an F5 or a spear out of nowhere, fans would pop at the idea that one of the guys has let their guard down and it's opened the door for their opponent to swoop in and win. It would certainly draw some comparisons to the world of MMA in that anything can happen at any given moment.
Now - let's make this a war.
#2 Last man standing
When you consider how bad the match these two guys had at WrestleMania 20 was, it becomes even more apparent that they need to pull something pretty special out of the bag in Orlando. They owe the fans a show, and that's exactly what they will likely be getting, especially if they prepare themselves for a match that goes between 10 and 15 minutes.
It's something that we aren't likely to see, but if we do, fans would have a great deal more respect for both competitors. You don't even necessarily need to add a stipulation to it either, as you can just have these two monsters slogging it out because the Universal Championship and their pride means that much to them. It would be a case of which man runs out of gas first.
We conclude with the riskiest strategy of them all.
#1 Lesnar steals one
If Goldberg vs. Lesnar is the main event of WrestleMania 33, then this would be a huge risk - but we'd love to see it. No matter how long the match goes in this case, Goldberg would be stood over Lesnar preparing to put him away once and for all - finally ending the debate as to whether or not the Beast Incarnate is capable of toppling the former WCW Champion.
Then, after a ref bump, Lesnar chooses to strike Goldberg with either a low blow or a steel chair that ultimately changes the course of the match. He realises that's the only way he can save the match for himself and despite it being frowned upon at the showcase of the immortals, Brock Lesnar would cheat to beat Goldberg and become the Universal Champion. Book it.
