The Summer of Punk will always be one of the biggest blotches in the history of WWE Creative.

What Triple H did to the Summer of Punk is a travesty. Punk was easily one of the hottest stars in WWE during the Summer of 2011 and he had shattered the glass ceiling. He was given the rub by John Cena in two consecutive PPV's and was absolutely on fire.

The second PPV, however, was a sign of things to come. Punk won via Triple H missing that Cena's hand was under the rope for the winning pin. This saw Kevin Nash come out and lay out Punk and Alberto Del Rio cash in. After this came the month of September, which saw Punk convincingly lose all his heat and momentum.

Punk and Triple H faced off at Night of Champions 2011 in a match where everyone expected the part-timing Triple H to lay down for the hot Punk. HHH hadn't wrestled since Wrestlemania 27, so everyone safely assumed that Punk was going to go over.

However, HHH and Kevin Nash decided to take the spotlight, and Punk added another ill-deserved loss to his portfolio. Triple H wouldn't wrestle again till Wrestlemania 28, and Kevin Nash's run was cut short when he blew his quadriceps out.
