If Goldberg ever returns to WWE again, it is probably safe to say that he will not be returning in the mid-card. No, he will be a top-tier WWE Superstar when he makes his comeback to the company. And there is nobody who's ruling the roost at the moment that Goldberg can have a showdown with, like Drew McIntyre.
