5 WWE Fastlane moments that hinted at WrestleMania 33 finishes

WrestleMania 33 is almost upon us

Well well well. WWE Fastlane 2017 is officially in the books and boy wasn't that underwhelming? The event that has been proclaimed a pointless B show, more than lived up to its reputation with only a few notable moments standing out above what was a distinctly average pay per view.

Of course, as we head into WrestleMania there's still hope to be had with some of the potential matches on the card.

Which is why we're here today - to find the correlation between the two. Whilst some people may see Fastlane as nothing more than a throwaway, we've decided to try and uncover moments that could actually end up telling us what we're going to see in Orlando at WrestleMania. Sure, these aren't all certainties, but they're definitely possible.

It's the most logical thing we can do right now when you consider how negatively people are responding to last night's show. It's not as bad as it's been in the past, but it's certainly taking away from some of the more enjoyable moments of the event that proved they do know how to book things well - occasionally, that is.

So with all that in mind, let's take a look at five WWE Fastlane moments that hinted at WrestleMania 33 finishes.

#5 The Red Arrow

Neville isn’t going anywhere

After a short period of time without it, Neville returned to using his beloved Red Arrow in order to dispose of Jack Gallagher at Fastlane. It was probably the best main roster Cruiserweight match we've seen since the reintroduction of the division, and that's saying something when you consider the depth of talent that they've got on the 'purple' brand.

Apologies.

But what does this mean for ‘Mania? In our eyes, Neville re-introducing the Red Arrow so late in the build to the big show signifies that he'll be putting yet another challenger away with the move in order to retain his title at the showcase of the immortals.

Perhaps it'll be en-route to a ladder match triumph, or maybe it'll come against The Greatest Man That Ever Lived, Austin Aries. Either way, they wouldn't bring the move back if Neville wasn't going to have an extended run on top.

Onto something a tad more comical.

#4 New Day's ice cream

new day
They did what CM Punk couldn’t

Because WWE felt the need to fill even more time on a pay per view that featured Jinder Mahal in an actual match, New Day came down to the ring and revealed their long-awaited ice cream merchandise in a segment that could've easily been saved for Raw.

Still, if this taught us anything, it was that we should be expecting the threesome to do the job in Orlando.

We don't even know yet if they'll have a match to go alongside their role as hosts of WrestleMania this year, but one way or another we're expecting them to get their asses kicked. Why? Because they're New Day and they don't need victories to succeed - as evidenced by the ice cream and their continued popularity among the WWE Universe.

Now to a man who will be a little bit peeved off after Sunday.

#3 Strowman's loss

Poor old Braun

Many were left distraught when Roman Reigns became the first man to pin Braun Strowman at Fastlane. However, there are a few positives that could come out of this. Obviously, it doesn't seem that way right now, which is only natural considering it feels as if WWE have Superman punched us in the stomach for the hundredth time.

But if we take a moment to think about it, Roman's hard fought victory over Braun allows for the monster among men to move away from the possibility of a singles match at ‘Mania. As such, it opens the door for his entry into the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal and if we were betting men, then we'd put everything we have on Strowman walking away with the trophy.

Evolution is a mystery.

#2 The New Evolution

Will we see a new uprising in WWE?

During a backstage segment on Sunday, we saw what could be the beginning of a new faction that has been rumoured for months now. Triple H has been reportedly putting together a new version of Evolution behind the scenes, with Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens clearly taking up two of the three vacant roles.

Foley's brief interaction with Joe may not have meant anything to some, but to us it signalled the start of a huge storyline.

Foley told Joe not to get involved with Owens' match in the main event, and we feel as if that will play into Samoa Joe's eventual WrestleMania bout - which we think will come against Finn Balor. In that match, the unknown fourth member could easily assist Joe in winning the contest, which leads to a huge period of dominance post-‘Mania. What if Finn Balor himself decides to align himself with HHH and his band of monster, considering he’s a demon too? How awesome would that be?

Oh, and of course, Owens will beat Jericho to help this along even further. Over to the women’s division.

#1 Sasha's interference

The heel turn is coming – and it’s going to be huge

Sasha Banks interfered on behalf of Bayley for the second time in the span of two championship matches, assisting her best friend in defeating Charlotte and retaining her Raw Women's Title.

It seems like a perfectly nice thing for her pal to do, but in reality there seems to be a deeper meaning to this - and it all leads towards a big fat heel turn for The Boss.

Just think about it for a second. Sasha knows that she's struggled to beat Charlotte on pay-per-view for nearly a year now, so keeping the title on Bayley means that she has a better chance of capturing the title.

This makes us believe that in the inevitable fatal-four-way match at the Citrus Bowl, despite the announcement of triple threat match on the last episode of Raw that will see Charlotte, Banks and Bayley competing at ‘Mania. Banks will cement her heel turn by ceasing an opportunity and pinning Bayley to win the Championship.
