5 WWE matches that could rival Okada vs. Omega Part 2

We are still recovering from this hard-hitting match

Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega first collided at Wrestle Kingdom 10, in the Tokyo Dome and put on, according to many, the greatest wrestling match of all time. They met again at NJPW Dominion in Osaka, and had an even better match, if possible, than their previous encounter.

As we scrambled to catch our breath in unison, we began to think about the current WWE roster. Considering that there’s absolutely no shortage of stellar talent in the company right now, could any of the talent put on a match to rival this classic?

We came up with 5 possible options, to achieve this impossible feat. Given the right opportunity and right stage, we believe they can have a match that can be almost as good as Okada and Omega.

#5 AJ Styles vs. Shawn Michaels

This match almost happened, but HBK don’t want none

Yes, we know that Shawn Michaels, at present, is 51 years old. However, he seems to be in fabulous shape and is a man who retired in his absolute prime. A match against AJ Styles, who is the modern day incarnation of Shawn Michaels, at least in terms of in-ring ability, is truly a dream match indeed.

The storyline is already in place. A match to determine the best in-ring performer of all time! Both men are master storytellers, and we are certain that even at their age (Styles is no spring chicken either), they can steal the show.

Unfortunately, from the recent episode of Table For 3, we learned that this is not an idea Michaels is open to. Which is why this match will always remain a ‘What if?’ Without further ado, let’s move to the next match in this countdown.

#4 AJ Styles vs. Finn Balor

These two NJPW veterans can put on a modern-day classic

Here’s another storyline that’s already in place- the two leaders of the Bullet Club facing one another, in a battle for ultimate supremacy. It would not be wrong to say that these two men may be the best in-ring performers in the company right now, and a battle between them can absolutely blow our collective minds.

Both these men are master storytellers and know the hard-hitting style that works in Japan. Given the right amount of time, to tell the story they intend to tell, every fan in the arena will be in for a treat.

The build to a match is sometimes just as important as the match itself and can add greatly to the same. We’re certain that both these men will have a long and entertaining feud very soon. Gallows and Anderson can also feature in the program that brings these two men to blows.

#3 Pete Dunne vs. Tyler Bate Part 3

We’re certain these two men can even eclipse their previous classic at NXT Takeover: Chicago

We first saw these two men in an excellent match in the finals of the WWE United Kingdom Tournament, where Bate beat Dunne to become the first ever WWE UK Champion. These two men stepped up to the plate, and absolutely stole the show at NXT Takeover: Chicago, a few months later where Dunne triumphed and became champion.

We long for a third encounter between the two men, to possibly overshadow the two previous matches and put on a modern day classic with great spots, based on a rivalry that has spanned many months. Hey, they still have a point to prove. Dave Meltzer did not award their previous match 5 stars!

#2 Charlotte vs. Asuka

This match could set the bar high for women’s wrestling

Charlotte Flair is unquestionably the best female performer in the main roster today. She has set a benchmark in women's wrestling, by being the first woman to be part of a Hell in a Cell match, Iron Man match (on the main roster), and very soon, a Money in the Bank ladder match too!

Asuka, on the other hand, just set a record of her own, by beating Goldberg’s undefeated 173-0 streak from WCW, in NXT. These two women should be on a collision course very soon, and we’re certain the results will certainly be most explosive. Both women are always hungry to make a mark, and therefore, when the time comes, they will certainly put on a classic wrestling match.

To make this match even more special, how about making this contest the first ever women's one on one ladder match? That would be something, wouldn’t it?

#1 The Revival vs. American Alpha (Ladder match)

Here’s another ladder match we wouldn't really mind

The ladder match between The Authors of Pain and #DIY at NXT Takeover: Chicago, was an absolute treat to watch. This got us thinking, really. How about a ladder match between two tag teams with incredible chemistry? Jordan and Gable vs. Dash and Dawson. Can you imagine just how good this match will be? Bah gawd!

We’ve already seen glimpses of these two teams taking one another to the limit at various NXT Takeovers. If given enough time, this could very well be a match of the year candidate and outshine the standards set by Okada and Kenny Omega.

These are possibly the two best tag teams in the world with the exception of the Young Bucks, and can certainly put on a clinic.
