Back in the 2000s, things took a dark turn in the WWE when it emerged that Lita was cheating on Matt Hardy with Edge. With management high on giving Edge a push, Hardy was fired in order to keep the peace.

The internet, as expected, rose up in arms in defence of the elder Hardy brother.

So, when Matt unexpectedly attacked "The Rated R Superstar" on WWE programming, fans thought that the future "Broken" one was doing it for real. It was soon revealed though that Matt had been re-signed by the company and the two men and Lita engaged in one of the finest feuds of the decade.
