Some interesting close-knit friendship groups have been made throughout WWE history and the surprising friendship between Mean Gene Okerlund and Iron Sheik led to the star asking him to be his best man at his wedding back in 1976.
The former WWF World Heavyweight Champion married Caryl J. Peterson on March 2, 1976. It was Mean Gene who was in control of the day and was there to ensure that everything went ahead without any kind of issue.

The happy couple are still together to this day and now have two daughters and five grandchildren. After Gene's passing back in 2019, Sheik posted the above message on his Twitter account where he confirmed that the former WWE personality was always there for him and even sang and danced at his wedding more than forty years ago.
