5 WWE Superstars famous for their brutality

Extreme Rules
Extreme Rules

If you are in the business as a wrestler, you’re automatically considered as crazy for wanting to sacrifice your own body for a living. It’s a given. However, some guys thrived and enjoyed taking the violence to a whole new level for the sake of our entertainment, which make the rest of the Superstars look…completely normal.

With waterfalls of blood, sharp tools piercing through skin, high and dangerous falls to the floor and others of the likes – let us applaud the 5 following Superstars who absolutely adored brutality. Thank you for taking all the punishment to fulfill our masochistic gratification.

Shane through a glass window

#5. Shane McMahon

Yes, Shane McMahon. The Crown Prince of the WWE takes the the 5th spot on this list not only for the weapons he tends to use, but mostly for his courage.

He’s survived (and given) insane beatings from Kurt Angle during the 2001 King Of The Ring, being thrown into glass windows and receiving a standing ovation after the match.

But who could forget his jump from the top of the Titantron set down to the concrete floor? How about the one from the top of the cell down to the table? You don’t even have to be a real wrestling fan to remember or know about these moments.

Shane’s crazy leaps have made inerasable marks in WWE history, proving to the entire universe that Shane O’Mac will sacrifice every inch of his body to take down his opponent.

Why, Shane? Never mind, we’re not complaining.

I wouldn’t want to be his opponent.

#4. Tommy Dreamer

Tommy Dreamer never made a real impression with the ECW crowd when he first started. They didn’t think that he was fit to be in the promotion.

Then came the flabbergasting moment when Dreamer willingly took 10 shots from The Sandman’s Singapore Cane while shouting, “Thank you, sir, may I have another?” after each lash. He then earned the audience’s respect as they sat in awe.

With his embrace of the hardcore style, involving himself in numerous bloodbaths, Dreamer earned the position of becoming the crowd favorite as well as the heart and soul of ECW.

His neither

#3. Sabu

Sabu took the notion of extreme to a whole new level during his days in ECW. Officials and other wrestlers feared for their safety and the safety of the audience, that they had forced Sabu into wearing a straightjacket before and after his matches.

When he was set free, he never failed to cause utter destruction. Barbed wire tearing through his biceps, diving with chairs in hand, landing through tables - Sabu’s recklessness made him an evident ECW favorite.

2. Terry Funk

Born into a wrestling family, Terry was taught the finer points of technical wrestling by his father, Dory Sr., and older brother, Dory Jr. He’s also won the NWA world title in the 1970s.

What happened?

Terry Funk decided to create a second career for himself as the “Hardcore Legend”. He used weapons such as ropes of barbed wire, irons, fire, and explosives. He’s given Mick Foley one of the wildest matches of his career proving that he wasn’t scared of anything and that he could still tough it out albeit middle-aged.

On second thought... I wouldn’t ever want to be them either

#1. Mick Foley

When you mention the word “hardcore”, it’s impossible not to think about Mick Foley.

The majority (if not, all) of his most famous matches have had extreme rules, making it clear that Foley’s always had a different definition of wrestling.

You just never forget the heavy emotions he provokes when you watch him in a hardcore match, especially against the young talents he’s put over (such as Randy Orton and Edge) by the end of this career.

Baseball bats laced in barbed wire, flaming tables, top-of-the-cell falls and thumbtacks galore – this is how you remember a Mick Foley match.

With a toothless grin and a missing ear, he earned the spot as the very first WWE Hardcore Champion, eventually launching himself into the WWE Hall Of Fame afterwards.
