When Bret 'Hitman' Hart returned to WWE, it was a long time coming. Leaving following the Montreal Screwjob, Bret was able to make amends with his former foe, Shawn Michaels.

But when The Hitman tried to reconcile with Vince McMahon, the boss wasn't having it, attacking Bret and refusing a match at WrestleMania.
Realizing the futility of his return, Bret said his goodbyes and went to leave the arena, only to be injured after a car collided with his leg.
Seeing his chance to embarrass the former WWF Champion (again), Vince said he'd agree to the match at Mania and wanted it in writing.
Tentatively, Bret accepted, though the second the contracts were signed, Bret would reveal the truth: that his leg injury was all fake, just to force McMahon into the match.
The match was a war at WrestleMania, and whilst Bret did need to sit down mid-match, the Hitman certainly had his moment.
