Society is based on rules, things you can and cannot do.

Since early man, there have been laws, which have allowed mankind to thrive through the years, to where we are today.

And whilst not everyone obeys the law, they are usually dealt with by the proper authorities.

In the WWE, there are some Superstars who have gone against what they have said, and have paid the price.

Most recently we have seen Becky Lynch be arrested for assaulting Ronda Rousey during her suspension.

Whilst The Man may have some credence against the company for suspending her, and robbing her of her WrestleMania 35 RAW Women's title match, the truth is that Lynch got arrested, wasn't the first, and probably won't be the last.

Here are five WWE Superstars who fought the law, and got arrested for their troubles.

#5: Eddie Guerrero

When Eddie Guerrero won the WWE Championship in 2004, it was a long time coming.

Guerrero had fought not just his opponents, but a litany of issues in the past, including substance abuse and run-ins with the law.

In the main event of the February 26 edition of SmackDown, Guerrero once again found himself in handcuffs again, thanks to Kurt Angle.

After being berated by the Olympian, who had attacked Eddie last week, the WWE Champion ambushed Kurt, attacking him from behind.

This did not sit well with General Manager Paul Heyman (who thought it was a matter of time before Eddie fell back into his problems) and had the champ arrested for assault.

Fortunately, this incarceration wouldn’t stop Guerrero from appearing at WrestleMania 20 weeks later, where he retained the championship against the Olympic Gold Medalist.

#4: Stephanie McMahon

She may be the daughter of the boss, that even Stephanie McMahon isn’t above the law.

In the midst of the Authority’s feud with Daniel Bryan in 2014, the Billion Dollar Princess took things to the next level, slapping Bryan’s wife Brie Bella, who had attended Monday Night RAW as a fan.

McMahon clearly thought she’d gotten away with it, until two detectives appeared during the show, and after questioning her, handcuffed the former RAW and SmackDown GM and escorted her to jail.

Whilst she may have remained vigilant in front of the WWE Universe in attendance, Stephanie quickly broke down backstage, and was spotted pleading “I’m scared to death, I don’t want to go to jail,” to her husband Triple H.

With McMahon money on her side though, Stephanie quickly made bail and was released back into society.

#3: The Miz and R-Truth

The Miz and R-Truth raised a ruckus at Hell in a Cell 2011.

When The Miz and R-Truth paired together in 2011, the two Superstars held a shared belief, that they had been held back for too long by the WWE.

This conspiracy was only given credence when the pair were fired from WWE in late 2011, by COO Triple H.

Refusing to take this well, Miz and Truth would appear at the 2011 Hell in a Cell pay per view, attacking everyone in their path.

Even referees and photographers weren’t safe, as the pair attacked John Cena, CM Punk and new WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio.

Confined inside the cell structure, the pair were left in complete control until the chain holding the door was cut, and the two voluntarily surrendered.

With their shocking actions drawing many fans in, it wasn't long until the two were re-hired.

#2: Stone Cold Steve Austin

It’s no secret that Stone Cold and Mr. McMahon did not get along.

For years, Austin fought against the establishment, whilst McMahon promised to make the Rattlesnake’s life a living hell.

In one of the most famous segments between the two, Austin would stick it to the Chairman, by driving a Zamboni into the arena, and diving off it, over security and onto McMahon.

Pounding the boss with a flurry of fists, Austin’s moment of defiance was short-lived, as security and officers quickly pinned the Bionic redneck to the mat, and escorted him to jail.

Whilst Austin would spend the night in the slammer, the Rattlesnake was back next week, raising more hell for McMahon, proving that it was going to take a lot more than a flock of security to keep the Texan down.

#1: The Shield

The Shield have never been known for playing by the rules, but in 2018, they found out the hard way not to mess with the law.

Following a wild brawl with Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre and the recently turned Braun Strowman, the hounds of justice drew the ire of then Acting RAW General Manager ‘Constable’ Baron Corbin, who had the three arrested.

Refusing to go quietly, it was an all-out war backstage as the locker-room brawled, half wanting to see the Shield leave, half wanting to see them stay.

Fortunately, a quick legal defence allowed the team of Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns to return later that night, as they continued to fight against the Constable until Reigns was forced to walk away from Monday Night RAW in October to battle his leukaemia, which is now in remission.
