5 WWE Superstars who won a title on the main roster, but never did in NXT

In the five and a half years of NXT's existence as a brand, there was a massive transformation from being a developmental territory like Ohio Valley Wrestling and Florida Championship Wrestling into a standalone brand that can compete with any promotion or roster in the world.

On NXT, there are a total of three championships, and each belt had a tournament to crown the first winner. The first to be introduced was the NXT Championship in July of 2012 which was won by Seth Rollins defeating Jinder Mahal.

In January of the following year, the NXT Tag Team Championships were created and initially won by British Ambition (Neville and Oliver Grey) defeating the Wyatt Family of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan.

Then later that summer in June of 2013, the NXT Women's Championship was created and won by Paige who defeated Emma.

In the early history of NXT as a brand, success as a champion on NXT led to success on the main roster, but as the brand evolves, so does the notion that you need to have success on NXT before moving on to the main roster.

This article is going to take a look at five WWE Superstars who didn't win gold at all in NXT but were able to do so on the main roster. In some cases, they have done such an amazing job on the main roster that they're multi-time champions.

#5 Baron Corbin

The "Lone Wolf" Baron Corbin is the current WWE United States Champion...

Baron Corbin began his professional wrestling career straight from the NFL in 2012 and it only took two months since his deal to receive his first match.

Corbin would be repackaged as The Lone Wolf in 2014 and this was the point where his career would take off. He would have some prominent feuds with Bull Dempsey, Samoa Joe, and Austin Aries before his last NXT match in April 2016.

Corbin would debut at the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas, and win the match. After a very solid first year on the main roster, Corbin would win the Money In The Bank briefcase, but unsuccessfully cash-in.

At Hell In A Cell this past October, Corbin would win his first championship in the WWE when he defeated AJ Styles and Tye Dillinger for the WWE United States Championship, a title he still holds today.

#4 Becky Lynch

Be
Becky Lynch was the first ever WWE SmackDown Women's Champion...

It's amazing to think that Becky Lynch is the only member of the Four Horsewomen to not hold the NXT Championship, but it is true. Part of the fact is that she only spent one year in NXT before being called up.

Lynch made her NXT television debut in June of 2014 and would immediately start feuding with Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair. She would have a couple of chances to capture the NXT Women's Championship but was unsuccessful.

Alongside Charlotte and Sasha, Becky was introduced by Stephanie McMahon and debuted on the main roster in July of 2015 as part of the Women's Revolution. During the early moments of her main roster career, she'd form a team with Charlotte and Paige known as Team PCB.

At the WWE Draft in July of 2016, Lynch was the top women's pick of Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan to SmackDown Live. She won a Six-Pack Challenge on September 11, 2016, defeating Alexa Bliss, Carmella, Naomi, Natalya, and Nikki Bella to become the first ever WWE SmackDown Women's Champion.

#3 Bray Wyatt

It took
It took some time, but eventually, Bray Wyatt reached the pinnacle of the WWE...

Bray Wyatt is the only one on this list who competed in NXT when it was a reality competition series. As Husky Harris, Bray competed in the second season of NXT and finished in fourth place.

After a stint with Wade Barrett's Nexus faction, Wyatt would return to Florida Championship Wrestling, where he eventually transformed into the Bray Wyatt persona we know today. A few months into the transformation into Bray Wyatt, FCW transitioned to NXT as it became a brand instead of a competition series.

The Wyatt Family would terrorize NXT for a year before getting the call to the main roster in May of 2013. Luke Harper and Erick Rowan would become the second-ever NXT Tag Team Champions, but Wyatt would never hold any gold during this time there.

After three and a half years on the main roster, Wyatt finally struck gold by winning the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships with Randy Orton in December of 2016. The following February, Wyatt would reach the highest point of his career where he won the WWE championship at Elimination Chamber in 2017.

#2 Enzo Amore

Enzo Amore is a two-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion...

Enzo Amore, along with Big Cass, was one of the most popular tag teams ever NXT. A lot of people, including myself, are surprised that they never captured the gold in NXT or even the main roster the year they were together before Big Cass turned on Enzo.

Unfortunately for Big Cass, he suffered a knee injury and is out of action for another few months; while Enzo made the move to the Cruiserweight Division immediately challenging Neville.

Eventually, a brilliant double turn would happen with Neville turning babyface and Enzo becoming the biggest heel in on 205 Live. At No Mercy in September of this year, Enzo would defeat Neville (with a low blow) and become the WWE Cruiserweight Champion; which was the first piece of gold ever for the Certified G in the WWE.

#1 Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss is a four-time champion in the WWE since her debut in July of 2016...

The most decorated WWE Superstar from this list, by far, is Alexa Bliss. After making her main roster debut after last summer's WWE Draft, she has already won a total of four women's championships, two from Monday Night Raw and two from SmackDown Live.

Alexa made her NXT television debut in July of 2013 portraying a bubbly, sparkly character blowing glitter from the entrance ramp. It was when she turned heel after Blake and Murphy helped her cheat to get an NXT Women's Championship match that her career took off.

Bliss was drafted to SmackDown Live in July of 2016. Two months into her main roster debut, she would win a Fatal-5-Way to determine the number one contender for the first-ever WWE SmackDown Women's Champion, Becky Lynch.

At No Mercy that October, she'd defeat Lynch for her first title in the WWE. Naomi would defeat her for the title at Elimination Chamber in February of this year, but due to injury it was vacated and won again by Bliss to make her the first two-time WWE SmackDown Women's Champion

There was a Superstar Shakeup this past April, and Bliss was traded to Monday Night Raw, and only 20 days into her tenure on Raw, she would defeat Bayley for the WWE Raw Women's Championship, her third title in the WWE.

The Raw after SummerSlam this year, Bliss would win her fourth overall title by defeating Sasha Banks, and she currently holds that championship.

Over the first 13 months of Bliss' main roster winning four championships is truly amazing, but it is a testament to how great she was inside and out of the ring. She's turned into the best talker in the women's division; while putting on spectacular matches.
