Jeff has the potential to be the greatest wrestler not only in WWE, but in the whole wrestling circuit. He has faced many issues related to drugs throughout his life, which has caused him his position in the title picture. It seems unlikely now that WWE would trust him now to be the face of the company because of his reputation. If it was not for his addictions, he would be surely regarded as one of the best wrestlers of the century.
Besides, it seems like Hardy is not very keen to be in that position either. He is probably thinking of winding up his career right now and this may very well be his final run with WWE. So, it is better that he have some safe matches in the mid-card and let us just hope that he does not get injured again which might cut short his career.
