5 WWE Superstars who've been arrested the most in their lives

Jerry Lawler toasting a couple of beer cans. How dryly ironic?

WWE Superstars may be independent contractors on paper but when they’re signed to the company, their actions reflect directly on the WWE. Bearing this in mind, it is imperative that these Superstars ensure that they do not fall afoul of the law.

But pro wrestlers being pro wrestlers, that just doesn’t happen now, does it?

Unsurprisingly, there have been many documented cases of WWE Superstars toeing the legal line in the past. Some of them get off with a slap on the wrist for minor offences but the more unlucky ones suffer the ignominy of getting arrested.

Some are taken in by the authorities and learn their lesson, but others just keep paddling down the rapids not knowing there’s a waterfall ahead. This list is about those unfortunate souls.

Here then, are 5 WWE Superstars that have been arrested multiple times in their lives. Some people just don’t learn their lessons, I guess.

#1 Sunny

Her latest claim to fame is being in a ‘relationship’ with Shawn Michaels for 9 months...

So get a load of this. The notorious Sunny, who’s resorted to doling out relationship advice to the folks in the WWE today, surely created a record back in 2012 when she was arrested 5 times in a month. Yes, you read that right.

That roughly equates to about an arrest every six days in case you were wondering... and the charges were quite varied in nature too. Ranging from disorderly conduct to third-degree burglary, Sunny’s been at them all.

When that phase passed, she was arrested again in 2013 for violating a protective order. And again in 2015 for multiple DUIs.

Starting to see quite a trend develop here, aren’t we?

Just when it looked like the ill fortune was going to tide over though, Sunny was taken in again in 2016 for violating probation and not showing up for regular alcohol and drug tests.

Forgive the sardonic tone, but by now, we’re just content to sit and wait for her next run-in with the law in 2017.

#2 Jerry Lawler

Jerry Lawler’s mischievous streak was evident outside the ring too

WWE’s very own puppy-loving commentator and good ol’ JR’s partner in crime (not literally, of course) is the next man on this list. Jerry Lawler may be a bonafide WWE legend and Hall of Famer, but he’s had a far from spotless record outside of the ring.

He was picked up for the first time by the authorities in Memphis, when he allegedly sexually harassed a 15-year old girl, only for the charges to be dropped later on as the girl revoked her statement.

That distasteful incident was followed by another bordering on the ludicrous as he was taken into custody yet again in 1999, having torn apart a ticket given to him at the Memphis Airport before running his vehicle over an officer’s foot.

This was followed by a relatively clean stretch but that was sullied in 2016 when he was arrested again along with his girlfriend, this time on charges of domestic violence. The charges were dropped, however, when it became clear that it was little more than a lover’s quarrel that had gotten out of hand.

Jerry, what were you thinking?

#3 Vader

Good luck arresting that man...

Big Van Notorious Vader.

Heralded as one of the most athletic big men in contemporary pro wrestling history, Vader had it all in terms of his in-ring career. He travelled far and wide and performed admirably in many promotions.

But his record outside of the ring is certainly less than stellar.

Apparently, when Vader was in Kuwait years ago on vacation, he got drunk and started making a fool out of himself in a public pool. Understandably, Kuwaiti authorities were less than pleased and he had to be apprehended. But his vacation from hell was only going to get worse.

Rumours that he attacked a television show host during the said vacation also surfaced, and although they were proven to be largely untrue, two run-ins with the law in a foreign land don't really constitute a vacation, right?

But this incident of DUI in 2002 is what really takes the cake. After wrecking his car against a bush, Vader – who was still in a heavy state of intoxication – was arrested by eight officers with the aid of two dogs and...wait for it...three handcuffs!

Why it took such manpower, you ask?

Oh, a small matter of an extremely drunk 350 pound, 6’5” tall man threatening to kill them all.

#2 Jake The Snake Roberts

Yes, Jake was responsible for that snake’s death

Jake Roberts has cleaned up his act thanks to DDP Yoga after dealing with severe alcohol addiction for many years, but suffered frequently with the law during those dark days. After being arrested for punching a fan in 1988, he was taken into custody in 1999 too for being woefully behind on his child support.

Two years on, he was arrested yet again for backing his car into another parked vehicle while under the strong influence of alcohol. And his misfortune with the law continued as his problems with alcohol only worsened.

It took only two further years for Jake to land in hot soup again, this time with the English authorities, for not caring about his python and letting it die. This was followed by another arrest in the USA within the span of two months – this time for possession of narcotics (cocaine, namely).

Just when it seemed that his trouble with alcohol, drugs and the law had broken him though, DDP’s timely intervention helped him resuscitate his life.

And since then, so far so good. *Touches wood*.

#1 Scott Hall

Once a Bad Guy...

It’s just too bad that Scott Hall literally believed that being a bad guy was cool, as he consistently found himself in the police station for it. His long list of offences kicks off with arguably the worst one of the lot in 1983 when he was charged with second-degree murder for shooting a man with his own gun outside a club.

Apparently, as the story goes, Hall had been the bouncer and the guy had stepped to him aggressively. Oh, snap!

This was followed by another run-in with the authorities in the early 1990s for trying to hijack a limousine when under the intoxication of alcohol (sigh). In 1998, Hall was roped in by the law yet again for molesting a 56-year old woman in Louisiana. And during the probation period that had been slapped on him for this offence, he didn’t show up for community service and went to jail for that too.

By now, you must be tired of his penchant for getting into trouble but Scott Hall himself was far from done.

He was arrested for a DUI in 2000, unable to figure out which lane was the right one, and swiftly followed that up with another visit to the coppers for kicking in the door of a cab less than a month removed from his previous misdemeanour.

And then, out of the blue (also thanks to DDP Yoga), it appeared as though Scott Hall had cleared up his act.

A decade passed without an outright run-in with the law but in 2010, Hall was at it again. This time, the crimes of choice were resisting arrest and disorderly conduct in a bar in Florida. This was succeeded by a relatively quick turn around as he was taken into custody just two years later, for allegedly choking his girlfriend.

He may be long retired from in-ring competition, but one way or another, Scott Hall’s unsavoury track record with the law keeps confirming his infamous quote.

I’m not sure about the hard work or the dreams coming true... but the Bad Guys sure do seem to last.
