Legado del Fantasma, led by El Hijo del Fantasma, has sought to return pride to Lucha Libre in WWE

Legado del Fantasma has established itself as one of the best three-man groups going in WWE at the moment, despite only being introduced recently on NXT.

The previously-masked El Hijo del Fantasma won the tournament to crown an Interim Cruiserweight Title. After the tournament, he unmasked himself to be the leader of a new stable alongside Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza.

Following the tournament, El Hijo del Fantasma cut a promo declaring himself to be Santos Escobar. He stated that his mission was to bring honor back to Lucha Libre in WWE. One way that Escobar could bring Mexican style wrestling to WWE would be through the introduction of a Trios title.

Both major Mexican promotions Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide have active and popular Trios Championships.

El Hijo del Fantsma, or Santos Escobar, is also a former CMLL Trios Champion alongside Hector Garza and La Mascara.
