6 smart booking decisions that can make Hell in a Cell a success

HIAC has the potential of being an excellent PPV

The 2017 edition of the otherwise highly anticipated Hell in a Cell PPV is almost here but unfortunately, the hype and excitement just aren't there this time around. Smackdown has consistently failed to deliver even a partially decent PPV this year and fans seem to be under the impression that this trend is most likely to continue with this Sunday's Hell in a Cell event.

But there is still hope and the supremely talented Smackdown roster is fully capable of pulling a rabbit out of their hat and delivering a good PPV event. With stars like AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Roode and Kevin Owens having bouts on the card, delivering a good PPV is merely a matter of making smart booking decisions. Here are some of the ways in which Hell in a Cell can become a gigantic success.

#1 Kevin Owens should win and stay on Smackdown

KO is the best thing on Smackdown right now.

Kevin Owens' recent transformation into a ruthless heel has been the best storyline to have aired on Smackdown in a long time. Owens was always a great onscreen villain but his recent feud with the McMahon’s has escalated his stardom to new heights. Owens is the breath of fresh air that Smackdown was desperately in search of but if he loses to Shane on Sunday and is drafted to Raw then it will be a massive blow to Smackdown.

After being a part of numerous 5-star matches over the last couple of years, Kevin deserves to secure a win over Shane in a brutal, back and forth Hell in a Cell match. If KO wins his match against Shane on Sunday then it can even lead to a potential clash with Triple H in the not so distant future.

#2 Jinder Mahal should drop the title at HIAC

The Modern Day Maharaja has failed to impress despite his best efforts

With WWE's tour of India just around the corner, it is virtually impossible that Jinder Mahal will drop the title to Shinsuke Nakamura this Sunday. But the modern-day Maharaja has been a lacklustre champ and fans will be enthralled if their favourite Shinsuke Nakamura is the one to dethrone the champ.

WWE is hell-bent on capturing the imagination of each and every wrestling fan in India but it is high time they realize that the quality of their product is suffering and the fans are losing interest in the blue brand. No one is expecting Jinder to lose and that’s what makes it the perfect opportunity to crown a new champion. The entire arena will erupt with joy if Nakamura's hand is raised in victory at Hell in a Cell.

#3 Glorious Bobby Roode should be victorious

Bobby Roode should win his main roster PPV debut

Bobby Roode took the NXT brand by storm and made it his yard. He certainly catapulted NXT to greater heights and he is expected to help Smackdown do the same. Unfortunately, he hasn't had much to do ever since his main roster debut but his match with Dolph Ziggler on Sunday can be the perfect start of a glorious run with the WWE.

And as it is his first PPV match, it makes sense that he walks away victorious on his PPV debut to establish him as a main eventer and then move on bigger feuds with the likes of KO, AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura.

#4 Tag team HIAC match must deliver

Usos and The New Day can breathe life back in Smackdown's tag team division

The PPV is called Hell in a Cell and thus obviously all the eyes are set on both the HIAC matches on the card. Like all of Shane’s hardcore bouts, his match with Owens is expected to be brutal as well but if the tag team HIAC match between The New Day and Usos also delivers then it will be a huge icing on the cake.

Their previous match on the Summerslam preshow was great and these two talented teams certainly have it in them to kick it up a notch and deliver an instant classic inside the demonic cell as well.

#5 A better match between Orton and Rusev

It is a must-win match for both the men

The whole world was shocked when the much-anticipated match between Rusev and Orton at Summerslam ended within a few seconds. It was disappointing for every wrestling fan to watch how a possibly great match between two intense rivals fizzled away in the blink of an eye.

A properly booked match between them will surely be a treat to watch for the members of the WWE Universe and will also do justice to these great in-ring performers.

#6 Establish Natalya as a deserving champ

Natalya deserves to be the champ

RAW's women division is miles ahead of their Smackdown counterparts. The women of the blue brand have given it their all but something has just not clicked. Thus, Natalya's title win was a welcome change as after working hard day in and day out for the past many years, Natalya finally got her due. Natalya deserves to be the champ more than anyone else on the roster.

Charlotte is a phenomenal wrestler and deserves to win as well but Natalya deserves to get a clean win on Sunday to establish her as a deserving champ, Charlotte's time though will come very soon in the near future.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Hell in a Cell turns out to be an awesome PPV and re-establishes SmackDown as the crown jewel of WWE.
