6 things you didn't know about Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss has been a dominant force in WWE for many years. Making her debut in NXT, she was a bubbly, loving face, who's obsession with glitter and sparkles saw her become beloved by many fans.

This all changed in 2015 when Bliss aligned herself with then NXT-Tag Team Champions, Blake, and Murphy. Changing her entire attitude, as well as her look, Bliss became the resident mean-girl of NXT, helping her team win however possible. She would also challenge for the NXT Women's championship, in an unsuccessful attempt to dethrone the huggable champion, Bayley.

Making her main roster debut as part of the 2016 Brand Extension, Bliss quickly proved to be a star on SmackDown Live, capturing the blue brand's women's championship at TLC 2016, and two months later on SmackDown.

Since transitioning to RAW, Bliss has continued her tour-de-force, winning three RAW Women's Championships, including beating her former NXT rival Bayley. While she may have lost the title at Summerslam to Ronda Rousey, Bliss' star is still growing, as she challenges Trish Stratus at the upcoming WWE Evolution pay per view.

But there's still plenty about the petite powerhouse that many fans aren't aware of, and today, here are six things you (probably) don't know about Alexa Bliss.

#6 She got her name by accident

Bliss as a southern gal, paired with Scott Dawson.

Alexa (real name Alexis Kaufman) has made full use of her in-ring surname, to create wordplays such as Twisted Bliss for her finisher, and the hashtag #BlissedOff.

But the 5-foot star has admitted that the Bliss part of her name came completely by accident.

Originally cast in NXT as a southern country 'gal', Bliss had the catchphrase "Bless your heart." Due to a southern accent she was using for the role, her pronunciation of Bless, turned to Bliss, and the NXT star took it as her own.

It sure does sound better than Twisted Kaufman.

#5 She once was very close to dying

In interviews, Alexa has been open about the struggles she faced earlier in her life, specifically battling an eating disorder that nearly ruined her.

Aged 15, the toll that the disorder was taking on Bliss' body was immense. In fact, it scared her parents into tricking her into a medical check-up. Believing they were going to church, Alexa had no idea that her parents were taking her to the doctors.

It was good that they did, as a medical examiner said that Bliss' body was breaking down and if she continued as she was, she would not be alive for long. Fortunately, Bliss was able to beat the issue and now leads a healthy, fulfilled life.

#4 Triple H saw potential in her

At WrestleMania 30, Triple H opened the show against Daniel Bryan, with the winner receiving a spot in that night's main event against Batista and Randy Orton.

Never one to shy away from a grand entrance, The Game entered on a golden throne, alongside beautiful women, played by Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss.

Choosing the three women was a process for the Game, as he wanted to pick wrestlers he knew he could trust. Seeing the 3 as future main stars, he picked them, to give them all a taste of what it's like to appear at the show of shows.

His vision came true, as the three have a total 17 women's championship between them, across NXT, RAW and SmackDown Live.

#3 She shocked WWE with her Harley Quinn outfit

<p>
Bliss did not tell the company about her attire based on the Suicide Squad character.

2 years after her WrestleMania 30 appearance, Bliss debuted on the main roster, joining SmackDown Live. At Backlash 2016, she competed to be crowned the inaugural SmackDown Live Women's Champion.

Whilst she was the first eliminated from the 6-pack challenge, Bliss left a lasting impression, entering in an outfit designed after DC Comics' Harley Quinn.

Bliss later revealed in a chat on Yahoo sports that WWE were unaware of the outfit, but later fell in love with the design.

It was a risky move for sure, as Bliss was still a new face on the roster at the time, and it could've easily sent her packing. Fortunately, her take on Margot Robbie's version of the Suicide Squad character is still fondly remembered by fans.

#2 Her mother tried to discourage her from wrestling (and it backfired)

Bliss may play a mean-girl who detests everyone on camera, but in real life, she has a very close relationship with her mother Angela.

But when the future Champion told her parents about her wrestling plans, Angela was horrified and tried to dissuade her.

Using Chyna as an example, mama-Bliss tried to show that the WWE would not want someone so small, preferring more muscly women instead.

However, Bliss knew this idea was out-dated, and her mother's views only made her want to compete more, to prove that she belonged in the profession.

It clearly worked, and Angela grew to love the business, even attending the WWE Hall of Fame.

#1 She's a great singer

Whilst never demonstrated on TV, it turns out that Bliss has a great singing voice, as well as being able to cut a scathing promo.

Bliss isn't the only vocally talented member of her family, her grandfather was a country musician. In addition, Bliss' love for musicals can only have helped her pipes. A documentary produced by WWE includes footage of Bliss singing her heart out at home.

Whilst WWE have shown zero interest in a singing gimmick for the 5-time champion, it's not impossible to see such a thing take place in the near future.
