#4. Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg 2 - Survivor Series 2016

A surreal night in Toronto

It's important to understand the context of this match. It had been over three years since Brock Lesnar was pinned - with Triple H being the last man to do so at WrestleMania 29. Brock Lesnar had lost matches before - via DQ, "passing out" against The Undertaker, the WrestleMania 31 main event, and Fastlane 2016's Triple Threat match. However, the common theme in all of them was that he was protected and not pinned.

He didn't hold any Championship in 2016, but he had defeated Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania 32 and sliced open Randy Orton at SummerSlam that year. After WWE 2K17 announced Goldberg as a pre-order bonus, it finally opened the door for the wrestling legend to return.

In SportsCenter, Goldberg teased "unfinished business" with Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman would cut a promo on RAW calling Goldberg out. Surely enough, he responded and returned one week later after 12-and-a-half years to RAW.

With the tagline 'Fantasy Warfare just got real', Survivor Series 2016 had its blockbuster headliner. It lasted all but 1 minute and 26 seconds as Brock Lesnar was squashed by Goldberg in a way that he never was before. It was weird to see Brock Lesnar lose the way he did, but it was a fantastic way to get the wrestling world talking and add hype to Goldberg's return run that culminated at WrestleMania 33.
