Carmella signed for WWE in 2013 with no prior wrestling experience, since The Princess of Staten Island was working as a dancer for the LA Lakers.
Carmella's father, Paul Van Dale worked for WWE throughout the 1990s as a jobber but was still able to wrestle some big names in the company at the time, as well as inspiring his daughter to follow in his footsteps. The former champion herself has noted that she was a huge wrestling fan growing up.

The former SmackDown Women's Champion is the only woman to have won the Money in the Bank ladder match twice, won the 2019 Women's WrestleMania Battle Royal, and the second season of the Mixed Match Challenge.
Carmella currently resides on SmackDown and has recently begun portraying a new character who believes she is "the most beautiful woman in all of WWE."
