The most exciting PPV in WWE

The Royal Rumble is one of the WWE's "big four" pay-per-views, with the winner of the match being guaranteed an opportunity for WWE's top championship at WrestleMania.

This year the men's Royal Rumble match was won by Shinsuke Nakamura, thus setting up a dream match against AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. The women's Royal Rumble match, which made its debut this year, was won by Asuka.

Many of us are familiar with Royal Rumble stats or records like Roman Reigns holds the record for the most eliminations in a single Royal Rumble match with 12 eliminations, and the record for the most number of eliminations in Royal Rumble history is held by Kane with 44 eliminations and many more.

Here we look at 7 WWE Superstars who failed to score a single elimination despite lasting over 30 minutes in a Royal Rumble Match.

#7 Rusev (30 minutes 28 seconds)

The Bulgarian Brute

Rusev is currently the most over superstar in the entire WWE main roster, with "Rusev Day" chants being heard in almost every episode of SmackDown Live by the WWE Universe. He also currently leads the WWE merchandise sales.

Rusev has so far entered in 5 royal rumbles and has scored 6 eliminations, with all those eliminations coming in Royal Rumble 2015.

In the 2018 Royal Rumble match, Rusev was the first entrant and lasted a good duration of 30 minutes and 28 seconds but could not score a single elimination, before being eliminated by an unlikely alliance of Bray Wyatt and Woken Matt Hardy.

#6 Finlay (32 minutes 33 seconds)

The Irishman has been unfortunate

Finlay is a professional wrestling legend, having held over 20 championships around the world throughout his career. Finlay was mostly known in WWE as protector of Hornswoggle during his in-ring days and currently works as a backstage producer with WWE.

In the 2007 Royal Rumble match, Finlay entered as the second entrant and lasted over 32 minutes and 33 seconds but failed to score an elimination, before being eliminated by Shawn Michaels.

#5 Mike Knox (32 minutes 42 seconds)

Mike Knox

Mike Knox spent 4 years in WWE, but his tenure with the company was rather forgettable. He had the size for sure, but other than that there wasn't anything else about him that stood out and he lost a majority of his matches.

Mike Knox entered at no.12 in the 2009 Royal Rumble match, and shockingly lasted over 32 minutes and 42 seconds, which was a remarkable feat considering, Knox was nothing more than a jobber.

During his 32 minutes in the match, Knox could not eliminate even a single superstar and was thrown out by Big Show, who was the 30th entrant.

#4 The Miz (32 minutes 44 seconds)

The A-lister wouldn't be proud of this

The Miz has to be the most improved WWE superstar after the 2016 brand split and has won all the WWE championships on the main roster. The Miz is also a royal rumble veteran having appeared in 11 royal rumble matches but has scored just 2 eliminations, with both those eliminations coming in Royal Rumble 2012 when he dumped out Alex Riley and R Truth.

Miz was the 15th entrant in the 2017 Royal Rumble match, and lasted a good duration of 32 minutes and 44 seconds, but could not score even a single elimination. He was later eliminated by The Undertaker.

#3 Jerry Lawler (36 minutes and 2 seconds)

A legend

Jerry Lawler, also known as Jerry "The King" Lawler has appeared in 4 Royal Rumble matches, and has scored 2 eliminations, with both eliminations coming when Jerry Lawler was already eliminated from the respective Royal Rumble matches in 1993 and 2012.

In the 1996 Royal Rumble match, Jerry Lawler was the 4th entrant and managed to last over 36 minutes and 2 seconds but failed to score an elimination. He was dumped out by the eventual winner Shawn Michaels.

#2 Bob Holly (39 minutes and 35 seconds)

Hardcore Holly

Bob Holly also known as Hardcore Holly, spent 15 years wrestling for WWE. During that time he went through different gimmicks, such as Thurman 'Sparky' Plugg, Bob Holly, Bombastic Bob, and finally Hardcore Holly. The one thing all these personas had in common was that they never ascended beyond the mid-card.

Despite spending the majority of his career with WWE as a mid-card act, Holly was also known as locker room leader and a true enough guy as evidenced by his stint as a trainer on Tough Enough, and beating of Daniel Puder in a silly manner in 2005 Royal Rumble Match.

Holly achieved this feat in the 1996 Royal Rumble match, where he was the 5th entrant and managed to last a remarkable 39 minutes and 35 seconds but could not score a single elimination, and was thrown out by the 24th entrant The Ringmaster.

#1 Sami Zayn (47 minutes and 12 seconds)

Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn has so far entered in 3 Royal Rumble matches, including the recently concluded Royal rumble where he stole Tye Dillinger's spot and has scored just one elimination so far when he eliminated his real-life best friend Kevin Owens in the 2016 Royal Rumble.

Despite enjoying his best run on WWE main roster currently, since being promoted from NXT two years back, Sami holds an unwanted record, which he will not be proud off, that is Sami Zayn currently holds the 1st spot in our article.

Sami achieved this feat in the 2017 Royal Rumble, where he entered as an 8th entrant and lasted a remarkable 47 minutes and 12 seconds.

Despite lasting over 47 minutes in the 2017 Royal Rumble match, Sami failed to score even a single elimination, with the closest Sami coming to scoring an elimination was when he teamed up with Tye Dillinger to nearly eliminate Braun Strowman after a distraction from James Ellsworth and was later eliminated by The Undertaker, when he was the final 6 participants remaining in the match, thereby breaking Bob Holly's record which stood for 21 long years.
