Following last night’s Monday Night RAW, Cody Rhodes’ opponent for Crown Jewel looked set. The American Nightmare would be taking on The Ring General, Gunther, for the WWE Crown Jewel Championship. It is certain to be a “banger” of a match, to quote Sheamus. But could a WWE star, not named Kevin Owens or Randy Orton, cost Rhodes in Saudi Arabia?
Everybody knows that things aren’t exactly peachy between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens right now. After all, The Prizefighter was seen laying out the Undisputed WWE Champion after Bad Blood. However, KO might not be the one to cost Rhodes at Crown Jewel, and neither would it be Randy Orton, who also has some tension with his former protegee. Instead, Sami Zayn might follow the example of his best friend and take out the 39-year-old.
If the last few weeks have proven anything, it is that Sami Zayn is desperate to become a world champion. Weeks of begging fell on deaf ears before Gunther finally conceded at the last minute. However, last night’s loss might not have humbled The Underdog from the Underground, but made him more desperate. So much so, that he might take out Cody Rhodes during his match against The Ring General at Crown Jewel, following which the seven-time champion would demand another title match, making it seem like he gave the World Heavyweight Champion the assist.
Is AJ Styles angry? A former WWE legend thinks so.
This could be an interesting strategy from Zayn. As for Rhodes, he would continue to lose ally after ally, which could prove unfortunate in the long run. But, as things stand, this is nothing more than speculation. There is no telling how things will unfold at Crown Jewel.
Cody Rhodes may address Kevin Owens’ shocking attack on this week’s SmackDown
Cody Rhodes' appearance on RAW was certainly a pleasant surprise. The purpose of his visit was made very clear. He was only there last night to see who he would be facing at Crown Jewel. But, while he was focused on his goal, the WWE Universe around the world was dying to hear his thoughts on what happened after Bad Blood.
Well, unfortunately, Rhodes chose not to shed any light on the situation. However, he did tease that everything would be addressed come Friday night. Safe to say everyone will be eagerly waiting for SmackDown now for Cody’s reaction to this betrayal.
In the days leading up, The American Nightmare will have a lot to think about. This is perhaps one of the more shocking betrayals he has faced in his career. How is he feeling? What does he have to say to Kevin Owens? All this will be answered in a few days.
