AJ Styles is scheduled to defend his WWE Championship against none other than his old TNA rival Samoa Joe at SummerSlam. This match was made official by SmackDown Live G.M Paige. This will be the first time when these superstars will go one-on-one ( except they have in TNA).
A few weeks ago in a segment of SmackDown Live, The Phenomenal One walked out to meet his challenger for SummerSlam. As AJ Styles signed the contract in the middle of the ring, he waited to see who he would be facing in Brooklyn. However, 'The Destroyer' Somoa Joe took an unexpected opportunity, thanks to James Ellsworth, to sneak up behind the champ and choke him out with Coquina Clutch before signing the contract.
All of us know Styles championship reign is the best one in the recent history of WWE. He has been so dominant that even the likes of great superstars couldn't beat him clean. However, his opponent Joe has equal abilities. He is dangerous in the ring, has legitimate fighting skills and can utilize submissions. Their history in TNA deserves the spotlight in WWE.
