The fallout from the Sexy Star/Rosemary TripleMania incident continues, as the promotion has announced that it is to vacate the Reina de Reinas (Queen of Queens) Championship. Sexy Star was the incumbent champion, but the media furore surrounding her intentional injurying of the GFW star has forced AAA into taking action against the former Lucha Underground Champion.

The announcement was made on AAA's Twitter page and continues a turbulent year for the only female championship in the promotion. Lady Shani has also been announced as the new number one contender.

Sexy Star won the championship back in July after defeating Lady Shani, Faby Apache, Goya Kong, Big Mami and La Hiedra in a six-way match for the vacant title, after Taya was stripped of the strap in controversial circumstances.

It was reported that Taya was asked to give AAA the belt for a photo shoot, only for AAA to then strip her of the title. In story this was due to Taya's use of an illegal chokehold, but the real reported reason was to put the title back on Sexy Star. Unsurprisingly, Taya soon left the company.

Sexy Star went on to do irreparable damage to her career at TripleMania, when she took matters into her own hands and locked a shoot armbar on the unsuspecting Rosemary. Sexy is now being blackballed by many promotions, and the furore shows no sign of slowing down. The now-former champion has defended her actions in a four-page statement, but it has done little to curb the outrage against her.
