AAA wrestler dies at 35 during match with Rey Mysterio

El Hijo del Perro Aguayo dies at the age of 35

El Hijo del Perro Aguayo, who has also wrestled as Perro Aguayo Jr. passed away this morning at just 35 after a match for the CRASH promotion in Tijuana, Mexico last night. According to PWTorch.com, he was competing in a match against Rey Mysterio, Tigre Uno and Manik.

In the video below you can see Aguayo getting hit with a missile dropkick. He takes a bump, flops over and lands on his stomach before getting up and taking a scissors from Mysterio to the floor, twisting while running to go through the ropes.

Aguayo comes back in the ring and is dropkicked into position for the 619. It’s possible Aguayo suffered the spinal trauma while taking the bump to the floor and then worsened the injury by coming back in and taking the dropkick. Once he falls into position, he’s clearly out of it. You can see that Rey never connected with the 619 and looked confused.

They improvised the scene as the referee checked on Aguayo. Both Konnan and Mysterio, who were concerned, tended to Aguayo at one point. The match ended and EMT’s entered to attend to Aguayo and take him to an ambulance.

Aguayo was taken to a local hospital but sadly passed away before 4am EST. AAA, CMLL and others have expressed their condolences on Twitter.

It should be noted that nobody is claiming that Rey Mysterio was responsible for the death of El Hijo and it is still not clear what exactly happened.

Here is the video of that match. Note: Viewer discretion is advised as it may be disturbing to some people.
