What's the story?
AEW's Fyter Fest gave us some incredible moments over the weekend, leaving the wrestling universe wanting more as we edge closer and closer to the company's TV launch. However, one controversial incident left the Twitter world divided.
When Cody was caught on the head with a steel chair shot from Shawn Spears, the Son of the Song of a Plumber was busted open immediately, leading to many wondering why the spot was done in the first place. Joey Ryan took a more lighthearted approach to the situation.

At All Elite Wrestling's Fyter Fest this weekend, the company put on an incredible free event taking place during CEO 2019 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Featuring a handful of hardcore matches and moments, including a Non-Sanctioned match between Jon Moxley and Joey Janela, viewers were treated to a large level of carnage.
One moment that shocked the fans in attendance and the wrestling world was during Cody's match with Darby Allin. As Cody stood in the middle of the ring, daring Allin to get up, Shawn Spears rushed the ring, steel chair in hand. Spears then drove the weapon into Cody's head, leaving a massive gash.
Spears left as MJF, SoCal Uncensored, and more officials made their way to the ring. Along with Brandi Rhodes, they checked on the Executive VP, fearing the worst as a flap of skin seemingly dropped off Cody's skull and blood poured from the wound. It was a disgusting moment, leading to many fans, critics, and wrestling personalities alike wondering why such a spot was done, especially in this day and age. One of Cody's peers, however, had a different response to the moment.
The heart of the matter
Not known to take many things seriously, Joey Ryan mocked Cody's unprotected chair shot with one of his own...in a sense.
Ryan revealed one of his own "devastating" chair shots to an opponent, smacking WOAD "Double D" Rose across the backside.
What's next?
The Young Bucks have already come forward in response to the chair shot at Fyter Fest, claiming that it was, in fact, a gimmicked chair. Moving forward, it's assumed that the company will continue to bring in more hardcore aspects of wrestling, especially if they plan to make full use of guys like Jon Moxley and Jimmy Havoc.
