WWE News: Asuka set to make her official in-ring debut for Smackdown Live

"The Empress of Tomorrow" Asuka

What’s the story?

Following the aftermath of this week’s Superstar Shake-up, The Empress of Tomorrow Asuka is now all set to make her debut for the blue brand of Smackdown Live, this coming weekend when she teams up with former Smackdown Live Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.

In case you didn’t know…

Asuka made her initial debut for Smackdown Live during this year’s Fastlane pay-per-view, when the former NXT Women’s Champion challenged The Queen Charlotte Flair to a one-on-one match at WrestleMania 34 for the Smackdown Live Women’s Title.

However, earlier this month at WrestleMania, Asuka eventually lost to Charlotte via submission and failed to capture the SD Live Women’s Title in the process. It also meant that Asuka’s undefeated streak in the WWE also came to an end at a total of 914 days.

The heart of the matter

Earlier this week, Asuka was officially traded to Smackdown Live from Monday Night Raw as part of the 2018 WWE Superstar Shake-up.

In her official debut appearance for the blue brand, Asuka made an absolutely stunning impression when she saved the duo of Lynch and Charlotte from a three-on-two beatdown at the hands of newly crowned SD Live Women’s Champion Carmella, Billie Kay, and Peyton Royce.

The duo of Kay and Royce—The IIconics—have also made a pretty solid impression ever since getting the call-up to the main roster from NXT.

However, this Tuesday evening on Smackdown Live, The IIconics will have the huge task of pulling off a major upset win over the team of Asuka and Lynch, as the two sets of teams get set to compete in a tag team match.

What’s next?

Asuka’s official in-ring debut for Smackdown Live is slated to take place this coming Tuesday and “The Empress of Tomorrow” will look to make a huge statement in her first match on the blue brand.

Author’s Take

This will be the very first time Asuka will step into the squared-circle ever since losing out to Charlotte at WrestleMania and let us hope that the WWE books Asuka with perfection despite her streak coming to an end.
