Booking the finishes to Fastlane 2017 matches leading to WrestleMania

Fastlane is going to tell us a lot about the WrestleMania card

The Road to WrestleMania is full of many twists and turns as we've come to expect over the last few years, with the February pay-per-views often changing up the ‘Mania card for better or for worse.

Sometimes it makes things a lot more exciting, but every so often we get a result that leaves the WWE Universe in a state of absolute rage - to the point that #CancelWWENetwork is trending once again.

So this year, why not have things be a little bit different?

As opposed to altering the status quo, let's ensure that every match on the card that's already been announced plants the seeds for the showcase of the immortals. After all, there's only going to be four weeks between Fastlane and WrestleMania this year for reasons that make our heads hurt.

It makes complete sense to start setting things up for ‘Mania in Milwaukee because simply put, they're running out of time. We usually see at least six weeks separating the big event and the previous pay per view, but since we don't have that luxury, things need to change this time around.

Who knows, maybe it'll turn Fastlane into a must-watch show- but then again, maybe not. So with that said, let's book the finishes to the Fastlane 2016 matches leading into WrestleMania.

#1 Gallows & Anderson vs. Enzo & Cass

The tag titles likely won’t be changing hands before Mania

Despite the fact that Enzo & Cass come across as heels on WWE television, we're expected to believe that they're the babyfaces here. Gallows & Anderson haven't really done much with the titles but in truth, the belts have been destined to fail ever since New Day dropped them.

So for this one, the ending is extremely simple - Gallows & Anderson win clean after taking out Cass and destroying Enzo for the three count.

Then afterwards - nothing. Because the sad truth is that the Raw Tag Titles don't deserve to be defended on the grandest stage of them all, so instead what we should see here is Gallows & Anderson gloating and celebrating their victory before all four men eventually go into the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

It may not be the popular option, but it's certainly the smartest. We go from red ropes to purple for this next entry.

#2 Neville vs. Jack Gallagher

Two good old Brits going at it

Neville has a chokehold on the Cruiserweight Championship right now, and that's the way it should be. They've done well to build up this all-English title match, with Gallagher being a more than reasonable competitor heading into WrestleMania.

In the actual bout, though, Neville should fend off Gallagher's attacks early on and slowly pick him apart before sealing the victory with a Red Arrow.

Then, you could have Austin Aries come down for an expected interview before nailing Neville with his finisher, planting the seeds for their title match at WrestleMania. Aries is an experienced guy and is far and away the best option to face Neville at the showcase of the immortals, as they'll almost definitely have a tremendous match together.

From the Cruiserweights to the women's division.

#3 Bayley vs. Charlotte

Will Bayley hold on to her title?

Bayley's title win on Monday Night Raw was a great moment, but unfortunately, it feels like her reign with the belt is going to be short-lived. Charlotte's phenomenal winning streak on pay-per-views doesn't deserve to end here, and the story that people want to see play out is whether or not the Queen will be able to hold on to the title at the biggest show of the year.

So after Dana assists Charlotte in winning the belt once again, have Sasha and Nia Jax come out one after another as all four women stare each other down from afar. It'd ensure that we'd get the fatal four-way match that has been rumoured, and that isn't the worst idea in the world as all four women can bring something different to the table.

Over to one of the two main events of the evening.

#4 Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman

Reigns vs Braun is going to be a war

This feud has been built up quite well, with the two men having a great deal of animosity towards one another for a long time now. Braun has been unstoppable in the last few months and despite people thinking that there's no logical finish to this match, there is one man who can ensure that everybody goes home a winner - The Undertaker.

Roman can take Braun to the limit and even have him on the verge of defeat until that famous gong sounds and ‘Taker costs Reigns the match. Strowman needs to continue looking strong heading into a probable Battle Royal victory at WrestleMania, meanwhile, it seems logical at this point to have ‘Taker cost Roman a big time match after The Big Dog eliminated The Deadman from the Royal Rumble.

We conclude with the most important match of all.

#5 Kevin Owens vs. Goldberg

Owens faces an uphill task against Goldberg

There are so many different ways that this match could go, which makes it all the more exciting. Kevin Owens is growing into his position as Universal Champion, meanwhile, it seems like a formality to many that Goldberg will be walking away with the title.

If we take into consideration the fact that it's unlikely Lesnar will interfere if ‘Taker does in the previous bout, then things become a little bit clearer.

We can envision Owens catching Goldberg off guard early in the match up, attacking him before the bell and therefore putting himself in control. After 5-10 minutes of Owens keeping the affair quite one-sided, a touch of overconfident complacency could see Goldberg nail Owens with a spear and a jackhammer.

Owens kicks out, but a second jackhammer finally puts the Prizefighter away and sends Goldberg to WrestleMania as the champion.
