WWE News: Braun Strowman and Big Show cause more destruction during their steel cage match

Braun Strowman can be a very scary man

What's the story?

Braun Strowman and Big Show have had a couple of amazing matches in the past and last time they met they literally tore the ring down. But on the Labor Day edition of Raw, the two met in a steel cage match we won't soon forget.

The Background

Big Show has been in the wrestling business for twenty years and now is his time to give the rub to younger talent. He loves working with future stars and is someone that other big men can really learn from.

He's worked with Braun Strowman in the past, and whenever the two have met in the past, it resulted in great action. It's also great to see Braun Strowman do a kip-up which is something he only seems to do with Big Show because Show can support him in ways others can't.

WWE booked a cage match for the Labor Day edition of Raw in order to put this feud at a trifecta. The thinking was since the last time they met the ring exploded and nobody actually won, then a steel cage wouldn't break at all.

The heart of the matter

These two had a lot to live up to with their previous encounters and they did not disappoint. Big Show and Braun spent a lot of time punishing each other with the cage and found themselves climbing a couple times as well.

There was one stand-out spot where Big Show knocked Braun down off the top rope and hit an outstanding top rope elbow drop on The Monster Among Men. There were plenty of "this is awesome" chants after that.

In the end, Braun Strowman would hit a superplex on Big Show and the ring didn't explode this time. The Monster Among Men picked The World's Largest Athlete up, hit a running powerslam, and won the match.

But after the match, things got very interesting. There was one specific part of the cage they were staying off of and it was easy to see why in the end. Because Braun looked Show in the eyes, yelled "I'm sending you to pasture, old man!" and tossed Big Show through the steel cage. That specific section of the cage gave way and Show went crashing to the floor.

What's next?

Braun Strowman let everyone know what's next when he grabbed the microphone at the end of the match. He said he will take the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar at No Mercy.

Author's take

When news of this match first broke a lot of people might have wondered why WWE would have booked this match. But after it was over it turned out to be one of the better cage matches we've seen in a long time. Those two work so well together but this might be the end of their trilogy of matches.

Judging by the events after the match where Big Show took that bump out of the ring and was swarmed by medical staff, they might be hinting at the end of Big Show's in-ring career. After all, Big Show did say last year's WrestleMania would probably be his last.
