Braun Strowman injury update: The Monster Among Men has a legitimate injury that may see him sidelined

Strowman has been on a path of destruction in recent months

What’s the story?

Pro Wrestling Sheet has reported that Braun Strowman is currently suffering from a legitimate injury. It is not the injury that WWE is using in their current storyline, but may still sideline Braun for a while.

The Background

On last week’s Raw, General Manager Kurt Angle announced that Strowman had torn his rotator cuff during his match with Roman Reigns at Payback. While this was originally considered as a work on WWE’s part in order sell the physicality of their match, it now appears as though there may be some truth to the angle.

The heart of the matter

Although the rotator cuff injury is inaccurate, Pro Wrestling Sheet has discovered that Braun is suffering from some issues with his elbow. It is not believed to be a serious injury as he has worked some Live Events on WWE’s current tour of Europe. However, the issue will require him to undergo a minor procedure which will sideline him for four to eight weeks.

‘The Monster among Men’ has been written off of television in an angle on this week’s Raw from London, England, which saw Reigns attack his arm with a steel chair.

What’s next?

Braun’s recovery period will rule him out of next month’s Extreme Rules event and could also potentially see him miss out on WWE’s inaugural ‘Great Balls of Fire’ pay-per-view. This injury angle does suggest that whenever he does return, he will continue his current feud with Roman Reigns.

It appeared as though Braun was set for a monster push in the coming months which may have lead to him challenging Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship, possibly at this August’s Summerslam. However, the future is now unclear as this injury may force WWE’s creative team to re-evaluate their plans.

Author’s take

This news has come at a bad time for Strowman who had built up a lot of momentum over the last month or so and had arguably become Raw’s biggest star. Despite this, I fully expect Braun’s push to continue upon his return and I believe he will be a main event player on Raw moving forward.
