Current hottest mid-card acts in the WWE

Jeremy Piven Hosts WWE's "Monday Night Raw" At Mohegan Sun Arena

WWE as a promotion, has always been a sports entertainment company and the people involved have never been shy about it during public interactions. But never before than now has it been more about wrestling in its truest manner, with the likes of the Shield, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk etc. being at the forefront of the company.

The idea of a top-tier superstar is still the same and the guy or girl, who ‘moves’ the crowd is usually the one who is ready to step up.

The difference in the wrestling landscape is palpable as there is significant jostle among the guys lower on the card to break the door above them to own the top spots. Gone are the days when talented wrestlers were content being tagged as a mid-card guy and appear on the big shows.

It was CM Punk who truly paved the way for guys to aspire for more than what they were given and the following superstars I feel make fine examples of wrestlers who are on the verge of a breakthrough with their consistent performances getting positive crowd reactions and can step up when their time comes.

Please note that the list doesn’t include names of guys who have had a run in the main-event scene, at some point in their careers.

Damien Sandow

Damien Sandow

I know, I know, he holds the Money in the Bank briefcase. Well, technically at least, he hasn’t been guaranteed a main event spot yet and if u aren’t in the main event on WWE’s B- show, then it’s safe to call u a mid card act, I think.

Sandow’s gimmick is awesome and the fact that he does his act so well is a testament to his ability. The crowd love to hate him, but it’s not hard to see how entertaining he really is and nobody gets more laughs than he does now.

I would love to see him turn up the intensity quotient a bit more and we have a great WWE performer on our hands.

Dean Ambrose

Ambrose

I really hope Dean Ambrose is able to live up to the promise he has shown since debuting in the WWE. He has all the tools to be the next Bryan or a Punk. From a similar background as the previously mentioned stars, Ambrose may just turn out to be a bigger star than them, if used correctly.

Awesome on the mic, great in the ring and he has the ‘it’ factor shooting out in spades when he performs. If the promotion is able to look past his lack of size, this guy will rock it for sure. Next WWE champion? With the razor edge in his character, he is destined for great things as a heel.

Antonio Cesaro

Cesaro

If any superstar in the back is asked about who the most under-utilised guy in the company is, most tend to have this guys name on the list. Even I feel the same way and am sure most of the wrestling world does too.

If Cesaro would have been in the company a decade ago, he probably would have been in line for a Lesnar-like push. But in the present, the WWE seems to have dropped the ball with him as he has gone from a US champion to a rank jobber in just a few months time.Thankfully, Zeb Colter (formerly known as Dutch Mantel), who is known to have a keen eye for talent, is presently associated with Cesaro and with the gimmick of him being a ‘Real American’ gaining heat, he has been getting quality TV time and last week even got to tangle with the great Daniel Bryan.

Look out for this guy, he is the next big thing of this decade.
