The show ended in chaos as members of both the OG Bloodline and the new Bloodline clashed inside and outside the ring. Fans have since been buzzing with excitement over the possibility of Punk teaming with Roman Reigns inside WarGames. Some have also wondered whether CM Punk officially joined the OG Bloodline. The answer would be no.

During an interaction between Punk and Reigns toward the end of the show, the Second City Saint made it clear that his involvement wasn’t about them but about Paul Heyman. This suggests that Punk has agreed to team with the OG Bloodline as a favor to The Wiseman, as the group had been unable to secure a fifth member for their team.

Why was CM Punk the right choice to join the OG Bloodline on WWE SmackDown?

Over the past few weeks, the OG Bloodline has been searching for a fifth member to join their WarGames team at Survivor Series but has had little success. Top superstars like Seth Rollins and LA Knight have declined the offer, and understandably so. After all, nearly everyone in WWE was affected in some way by Roman Reigns and The Bloodline during Roman’s historic 1,316-day reign as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

On a recent episode of the Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts suggested that CM Punk joining the OG Bloodline made sense as he wasn’t present for most of Roman’s reign of terror. Even when he was briefly active earlier this year, Punk was sidelined with an injury until WrestleMania XL. Hence, he wasn’t directly impacted by The Bloodline’s dominance.

"The thing that makes CM Punk somebody that makes more sense as a partner to that Bloodline than pretty much anybody else on the roster is that CM Punk wasn't in the WWE for Roman Reigns' reign of terror. CM Punk's first match on WWE television since leaving the WWE was Royal Rumble of this year. CM Punk was in the WWE for the last January, February, and March—three months of Roman Reigns' title reign. He was unaffected in any shape or form by the [OG] Bloodline. By the way, for those three months, he was injured. He wasn't affected at all by the [OG] Bloodline; nil, none, whatsoever," he said.
