Exclusive: Flo Rida On His Working Relationship With The WWE

Invictus Games Orlando 2016 - Closing Ceremony
Popular hip-hop artist Flo Rida has participated at and/or performed at many sporting events, including the Invictus Games and WWE's WrestleMania

Flo Rida first made it big on an international level with his debut album, Mail On Sunday, in 2008. Mail On Sunday featured a few major singles, including "Low" (a collaboration with T-Pain), "Elevator" (as produced by Timbaland) and "Roll (which was recorded alongside Sean Kingston).

However, Flo Rida was active prior to "Low" taking off, as he had signed with Hot Boyz in 2000, worked with Cash Money in the years after, and had a notable feature on a 2007 release by DJ Khaled. In the decade since then, Flo Rida has worked on various tracks with Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Ke$ha, and Sia.

Tomorrow, April 20th, Flo Rida will be involved a great cause, the 25th Annual Race To Erase MS Gala in Los Angeles. To be hosted by HQ Trivia's Scott Rogowsky, participating celebrities for the 2018 event include Cheryl Burke, Sharon Osbourne, Rumer Willis, Ireland Baldwin, Lance Bass, Kris Jenner, and Paris Hilton.

Flo Rida will be one of three featured musical performances alongside Elle King and Siedah Garrett. Big name supporters of the event, which has raised millions of dollars to find a cure for multiple sclerosis, have included Cher, Mick Jagger, Sylvester Stallone, Muhammad Ali, Jerry Seinfeld, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cindy Crawford, Jared Leto, Neil Patrick Harris, and Mel B.

Long-time WWE fans may remember that Flo Rida has been involved with a variety of WWE live events. While doing Q&A with the multi-platinum rapper, I asked him a handful of wrestling-related questions.

You have worked a lot with WWE over the years. How did that relationship first begin?

Flo Rida: It's funny you mention that. Neil Lawi of the WWE was just at my show in Orlando this past Saturday. They approached me years ago when The Rock returned to wrestling and they used "Wild Ones" as The Rock's theme music. I hit it off instantly with the wrestlers and Vince McMahon. They say I have a second career as a wrestler.

Your feud with WWE Superstar Heath Slater never quite resolved itself. Any idea if that will come up again in the future?

Flo Rida: I'm from the "305" so whenever I run into Heath Slater "it's on sight," if you know what I mean. (laughs)

So any plans to work with WWE again in the future?

Flo Rida: Definitely.

Finally, Flo Rida, any last words for the kids?

Flo Rida: Keep God First, stay in school and never give up on your dreams. I started rapping at 15 and it took me nearly 10 years to get discovered. I worked dirty jobs at the MGM Kitchen, a t-shirt factory, construction as well as slept on plenty of floors, cots and couches.
