5 People who will be negatively affected by Brock Lesnar retaining the Universal Title at GRR

Brock Lesnar

Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar faced off for The Universal Title title in a Cage match at The Greatest Royal Rumble and while Reigns looked poised to finally unseat Lesnar as champion, he came up short after a vicious spear propelled him and Lesnar through the cage wall and onto the arena floor.

Lesnar ended up winning the match after WWE officials determined that Lesnar's body hit the floor first, making this the second time in a month that Reigns has come up short in a match to Lesnar for the title. Another important aspect of all this was that several outlets were reporting that this would be the night Reigns would finally taste title gold, but it didn't happen.

With that being said and this strange title picture continuing to unfold before The WWE Universe's eyes, here are five people that were negatively affected by Lesnar retaining The Universal Title at Greatest Royal Rumble and what the win means for the future of the entire WWE landscape!

#5 Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe,
Samoa Joe lost out on his title shot after Roman Reigns failed to win The Universal Title.

Roman Reigns is set to do battle with Samoa Joe at Backlash, but The Universal title will now not be on the line after Reigns lost his rematch against Brock Lesnar at Greatest Royal Rumble. Not only is this a big blow to Reigns, who continues to unsuccessfully chase the big red belt, its also bad news for Samoa Joe, who was hoping for a shot at the title.

With that being said, it's not known what WWE is going to do with either superstar moving forward, but it seems pretty obvious that they are hesitant to take the title off of Lesnar right now. Unfortunately for Samoa Joe, that means he has lost out on his final chance at The Universal Title on Raw and will now have to focus on The WWE title on Smackdown Live.

#4 The WWE Universe

WWE Universe,
How will The WWE Universe be affected by Lesnar winning at Greatest Royal Rumble?

WWE fans have been forced to endure a part-time champion for over a year now and unless Reigns or another full-time Superstar can unseat Lesnar, that trend will continue for the foreseeable future. While having Lesnar as champion, does bring some legitimacy to the title, , its still going to hurt the overall product to see Lesnar only make part-time appearances.

Hopefully WWE rectifies this at some point in time and finds a full-time champion that is capable of showing up every week on Monday Night Raw, but that's not going to happen as long as WWE is fearful of taking the belt off of Brock Lesnar and that looks to be the trend for the company right now.

#3 The WWE

Vince McMahon, WWE
Lesnar's win at Greatest Royal Rumble means that WWE will continue to pay him per appearance!

Brock Lesnar's surprise win at Greatest Royal Rumble pretty much guarantees that the company is going to continue to pay The former UFC champion a large chunk of change per appearance, which could become wasteful depending on how long the company plans to keep the title on him

The problem with this is that it takes the money and even television time away from younger superstars that are eager to prove themselves to the company and ultimately helps to maintain a toxic status quo within in the company. With that being said, if WWE doesn't want to put the title on Reigns due to the perceived backlash, they need to find someone else and just do it!

Not only will doing so finally free WWE from the king kong like grip that Lesnar has over the company right now with his per appearance deal, it also finally sets up a star to help carry the company into the future. That's not to say doing so will be easy or that it is going to work the right way, but the status quo is becoming so toxic that almost anything would be better than this!

#2 CM Punk

CM Punk,
Will CM Punk's historic 434-day reign be surpassed by The Beast Incarnate?

Brock Lesnar's surprise win in Jeddah Saudi Arabia puts him one step closer to beating CM Punk's historic 434-day reign back in 2013 and could be a sign that WWE actually wants The Beast Incarnate to surpass Punk's reign. Maybe WWE will use this as a mechanism to eventually get the fans behind Reigns and vilify Lesnar a bit, but that is unclear at this point

With that being said and no main event match at WrestleMania to speak of, a large part of Punk's legacy in The WWE rests within in his 434-day reign, which came to an end when he lost to The Rock at The Royal Rumble before WrestleMania 29. Punk would eventually go on to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania that year, but never won another title after that

In the end, this has got to be a huge blow to both Punk and his fans that followed him religiously throughout the historic reign and it could even diminish the lasting impact that Punk had in The WWE. Of course Punk will always have the blistering pipe bomb he cut that one night on Raw, but the biggest reign of his career might be surpassed by The Beast!

#1 Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns
What does the future hold for Roman Reigns after his
lose
at Greatest Royal Rumble?

The finish in Friday's greatest Royal Rumble match shows that while WWE wants to keep Reigns looking strong, they aren't willing to put the title on him as of yet. Whether that changes or not remains to be seen, but it's not a good sign for someone that has been unsuccessfully chasing the title for about a month now.

It was originally reported that WWE was going to finally put Reigns over at WrestleMania 34 against Brock Lesnar, but that didn't end up happening and Lesnar shocked the world by pinning Reigns after a last-second F-5 to The Big Dog. After that, reports started to claim that the title change would happen at Friday's pay per view, but once again choose not to.

Why exactly this happened is indeterminable at this time, but this isn't a good sign for Reigns or those hoping that he becomes the face of the company. In fact, if Vince McMahon, who has been working hard to establish Reigns as The Future of The Company, could be talked out of putting the title on him twice, what chance does Reigns really have now.
