When did Bobby Lashley become comic relief?

Maybe that wasn't the intention of Bobby Lashley's segment on Raw, but between his jokes that didn't land and the lack of substance of his opponents, it ultimately achieved nothing else. Unfortunately for Lashley, he has been in a quite the hole after losing to Reigns at Extreme Rules and it seems intentional at this point.

In fact, Lashley wasn't booked for Summerslam, isn't even booked for Hell in a Cell at this point and has been used sparingly on Raw. Lashley might have started out as a big deal to everyone that heard the news, but he has quickly become the butt of the joke that he is his back to dominate catchphrase.

In the end, it is easy to see that this is intentional and is only meant to keep fans from getting behind Lashley or any other superstar that could take The Shield out of the main event scene. Whether that works or not remains to be seen, but WWE seems to be doing a great job with this divide and conquer strategy.
