WWE will be organising it’s first Global Cruiserweight Series around July this year, where some of the best cruiserweigths will compete. Social medias are buzzing with rumors, stating Ricochet (former Lucha Underground Champion under Prince Puma persona) may be a partcipant of the series.
Ricochet has been working in both NJPW and Lucha Underground as of late. It’s being reported that Ricochet isn’t taking any bookings from indie promoters this summer. Ricochet’s contract with Lucha Underground won’t let him compete until 2017, more precisely, until the 3rd season airs. There could be some way around his non-compete with Lucha, which could see him come to WWE before next year, but it’s not confirmed.
Interestingly, wrestlinginc.com reports that Ricochet and Matt Sydal were unsuccessful in defending their IWGP Junior Tag team Championships against Roppongi Vice at NJPW Invasion Attack. Even, it was Ricochet who was pinned for the win. Maybe, this is a indication towards his possible leave from the company and working with WWE in the Cruiserweight Series.
Already confirmed participants for the Global Cruiserweight series are Zack Sabre Jr., Rich Swann, Tommaso Ciampa, Noam Dar, Johny Gargano, Ho Ho Lun and Akira Tozawa.
