Former NJPW star officially signs with WWE

Nakamura boasts of a decorated fourteen-year career with NJPW

It’s official! Former New Japan Pro Wrestling veteran Shinsuke Nakamura is now a full-fledged employee of WWE, after the franchise announced that the Japanese grappler put pen to paper on a deal with the company earlier today, reports wrestlinginc.com.

WWE’s official Youtube channel even released a montage tracing Nakamura’s journey from NJPW to WWE, and features appearances by WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles plus many more, all of whom offer their opinions on the Japanese superstar. Styles even went so far as to say that Nakamura will feel right at home with WWE.

The clip also shows Nakamura meeting WWE CEO Vince McMahon, WWE Executive Vice President for Talent, Events and Creative Triple H, as well as Stephanie McMahon at WWE HQ in Stamford, Connecticut. Nakamura also paid a visit to the WWE Performance Centre where he met with head coach Matt Bloom earlier this month.

The 35-year-old, who will be a part of WWE’s NXT brand, forged an enviable career with previous employer New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he won three IWGP Heavyweight Championships, five IWGP Intercontinental Championships, one IWGP Tag Team Championship, among other trophies.
