Former WCW Star Tom Zenk has passed away

The pro wrestling world is saddened by the news of Thomas Erwin Zenk's passing, better known as Z-Man Tom Zenk. He was 59-years-old and spent a career entertaining millions as he was a part of many great cards in pro wrestling history. Zenk might not have reached the heights of some of his contemporaries but he was present during some of the marquee moments during his run with WCW.

After a short stint with the WWF, Zenk set out to Japan and like many do, he honed his craft to come back to the United States as a better and more well-rounded performer. His run with NWA/ WCW is where he made his most lasting impressions in pro wrestling and during that time he was not only a tag team partner with Brian Pillman, but he also won the NWA United States Tag Team Championship with the future Loose Cannon in 1990.

Zenk also won the WCW World Six-Man Tag Team Championship with Dustin Rhodes and Big Josh (later known as Matt Bourne/ The Original Doink The Clown) in 1991. But his greatest success as a singles star probably came when he defeated Arn Anderson for the WCW World Television Championship to end The Enforcer's 336-day streak with the title.

Tom Zenk's name comes up often during Tony Schiavone's What Happened When podcast as they take a walk through the WCW archives and Z-Man is always praised for his efforts in the ring and his incredible physique. There's no doubt many will continue to speak his name for decades to come.

We are deeply saddened by this news because Tom Zenk was a man with an incredible personality who was never afraid to be himself.
