The King and Queen of the Ring tournaments are officially underway, and it seems every WWE star wants to make a major impact. It will be a big opportunity for the entire roster to earn the spotlight. Amid this, a four-time world champion is set to make a huge return next week as one of the participants. The name in question is none other than Asuka, who is set to participate in a Queen of the Ring Tournament Fatal Four-Way qualifier against Stephanie Vaquer, Ivy Nile, and Raquel Rodriguez next week.
The Empress of Tomorrow has been away from WWE television since May 2024 due to a knee injury she suffered earlier that year. The three-time WWE Women's Champion and one-time Women's World Champion was in the midst of a heel run with Damage CTRL back then. However, rumors have been swirling that she may return as a babyface (after 584 days) on next week's RAW. Her last babyface run ended on November 9, 2023.
The company showcased a promo package on RAW last night, hyping the veteran's return, and fans gave her a loud and positive reaction. Given this response, it's likely that Asuka will no longer be a heel on WWE TV. Fans have been waiting to see her for a long time. The Damage CTRL member has achieved tremendous success as a face.
Therefore, the Triple H-led creative team could re-create similar magic with her gimmick upon her return. Besides, Asuka's stablemates, IYO SKY and Kairi Sane, are babyfaces right now. Bringing her back as a heel would make it difficult to reunite her with her Damage CTRL stablemates. Moreover, such a transition would also help WWE to revitalize The Empress of Tomorrow's career.
Asuka to reunite with Damage CTRL upon her WWE return?
Asuka's comeback has become a buzzing topic among fans right now. After all, the former Women's World Champion has been absent since May 2024. Fans have been wondering if her return will eventually pave the way for a reunion with Damage CTRL. Well, the chances of it happening are high.
Ever since The Empress of Tomorrow went on hiatus, IYO SKY has been handling things on her own. Meanwhile, Dakota Kai was released from WWE last month. Her departure dealt a major blow to the group. However, Kairi Sane's return on RAW has somewhat prevented the damage.
WWE has a very good opportunity to revive Damage CTRL now that the 43-year-old will be back. Asuka could go after the Women's Tag Team Championship with Kairi Sane on RAW. There is a scarcity of challengers for current champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez right now.
A credible duo like The Kabuki Warriors could be a legitimate threat to their title reign. Also, there is a lack of factions in the women's division right now. The return of Damage CTRL would breathe new life into the RAW roster. Well, it would provide Asuka with a meaningful program following her comeback.
Also, it would give Kairi Sane something substantial, as she currently appears directionless on RAW. However, this is speculative at this point, and only time will tell what happens.
