What's the story?

WrestleMania is now less than a month away and after the announcement of the first ever Fabulous Moolah Battle Royal that will take place at this year's event, it seems that there could be a number of NXT stars appearing as part of the show.

In case you didn't know...

The Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal is the same format as the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal and it is thought that 30 women will be competing in the match as part of the show to get their hands on the Fabulous Moolah trophy for the very first time.

The women of WWE recently competed in the first ever Women's Royal Rumble match and the company was forced to bring back a number of legends to fill spots in the match and they could be forced to do this once again at WrestleMania if they opt to have 30 women in the battle royale.

The heart of the matter

Dave Meltzer discussed the announcement of the match on today's installment of The Wrestling Observer and how this match was designed to allow all of the women to be part of the show, much like the Andre The Giant Battle Royal worked for the men.

Meltzer also revealed that he thought that there would be a number of NXT stars who will be part of the show. (Transcript via RingsideNews)

“To fill it out, you are going to get some of the NXT women in there."

There is already a number of women on the card including Alexa Bliss, Charlotte, Asuka and Nia Jax who are all thought to have matches of their own so they won't be part of the show so it seems that this match could be heavily dependent on NXT women and alumni.

What's next?

The women of WWE will all be given a place on the WrestleMania card in less than four weeks time, whilst the current storylines in the Women's Division continue to play out.

Author's take

Whilst this is a fantastic way to continue to make history for the women and allow them all to have a spot on the card, there isn't a lot that they are achieving from winning the match. The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal has done nothing for the careers of the men who have won it, so if the company wants this to be a worthy addition to the card, then there has to be something more than a trophy handed to the winner.
