What's the story?
The Undertaker returned to Monday Night Raw for the first time since he was defeated by Roman Reigns back at WrestleMania 33 and delivered a short promo that seemed to further confuse the WWE Universe about his future in the ring, but it seems that this wasn't the original plan.
In case you didn't know...
Undertaker lost to Roman Reigns at last year's WrestleMania and then left his attire in the ring as he made the long walk up the ramp. This was thought to have been a sign that The Deadman had finally decided to hang up his wrestling boots and with no word from The Deadman for more than nine months, many thought that his WWE career was over.
The rumors going into Monday night suggested that Undertaker was either going to announce his retirement or that he was fighting at WrestleMania 34, but it seems that he didn't actually announce either.
Given the fact that Goldberg was already named as the headliner for the WWE Hall of Fame it seemed logical that Undertaker was going to announce that he was fighting at WrestleMania so that he could be in next year's Hall of Fame instead.
The heart of the matter
The WWE Universe was left completely confused by Undertaker's promo where he didn't announce that he was retiring or that he was going to compete once again, which rendered his appearance slightly pointlessly. Even though fans were able to see that The Deadman was back in good shape and has allowed his hair to grow back.
According to PW Torch Undertaker actually got lost part way through his promo because he was thrown off by how small the Manhattan Centre actually is. It is thought that this is why the promo came across as sending mixed messages, even though it could work in his favor since fans are still none the wiser when it comes to his future.
The Undertaker's wrestling future remains unclear so he could be part of The Royal Rumble match or he could wait until further down the Road To WrestleMania where he and John Cena will be able to set up a match that has been teased now for more than two years.
The Manhattan Centre is small, The Undertaker hasn't had an entrance that short in a number of years so he was probably quite confused when he finally got outside, but even if that's the case he has only further confused the WWE Universe. It will be interesting to see how WWE set up this long-awaited match now since it was thought that it would be done at Raw 25.
