What's the story?

Enzo Amore was released from his WWE contract yesterday after it was made public knowledge that the Cruiserweight Champion was being investigated as part of a sexual assault allegation. It seems that WWE knew nothing of this before it was made public on Monday night, which was why there were a number of plans for Enzo on Raw 25.

In case you didn't know...

The details of the allegation that related to an event that took place back in October 2017 were made public on Monday on Twitter before Enzo's suspension was announced ahead of Raw 25.

Enzo was then sent home from the Barclay's Center after it was revealed that WWE knew nothing of the allegation which was a breach of the company's protocol since Enzo should have made the company aware of it as soon as he knew he was being investigated last year.

The heart of the matter

Bryan Alvarez recently revealed on The Wrestling Observer that he heard that there was a plan for Enzo to be part of a segment with DX.

“Here’s the deal, first off that was supposed to be Enzo. I did talk to another person yesterday that said that. Enzo was supposed to get all of DX’s finishers but he was fired.”

He also speculated that he thought Enzo was fired that day at the Barclays Center but WWE waited to release this information to the public until the day after. Alvarez went on to discuss that he thought that the gravity of what Enzo had done on one of the biggest media days for WWE would have been enough for them to terminate his contract outright.

What's next?

Recent updates to the current situation are that there has been no new evidence to the case involving Enzo but it seems that his WWE career is definitely over regardless. WWE presents The Royal Rumble event this weekend and because of recent events, there will be no Cruiserweight Championship match as part of the show.

Author's take

There are a number of differing reports when it comes to Enzo's part on Raw 25 with many saying he was supposed to be beaten down by The Dudley Boys and Alvarez stating that it was DX. Either way, it seems that WWE had created plans for the Cruiserweight Champion that they weren't able to follow through with, which could be why the show seemed so stop-start because there were a number of last minute changes that had to be made.
