What's the story?

Roman Reigns managed to outlast six other men inside the historic Elimination Chamber match at the pay-per-view of the same name earlier tonight and will now go on to face Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 34.

Now that this has officially been announced, it seems that WWE has a segment planned for tonight on Raw.

In case you didn't know...

Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns has been building ever since their first encounter back at WrestleMania 31 where Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and became World Champion.

Rollins cash in meant that fans never saw the official end of the Reigns vs Lesnar which could be why the company have been pushing so hard for it over the past few years. Lesnar has held the Universal Championship ever since he defeated Goldberg back at WrestleMania 33 and is now the longest reigning Champion in the short history of the title.

Brock has already managed to defeat some of the toughest opposition on Monday night Raw including Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe, which has built him up into a beast that could only be overcome by The Big Dog in six weeks time.

The heart of the matter

Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar will be in attendance tonight for Raw in Anaheim, California and it was confirmed earlier this weekend that Paul Heyman and The Universal Champion will address Reigns for the first time following his victory inside the Elimination Chamber.

It is reported that this confrontation will take place inside the ring face to face and will be the first time that the two men who will main event WrestleMania, will be in the same ring ahead of the show in April.

It will be interesting to see if the build towards this match is any different from their original showdown almost three years ago, where Brock was the Champion heading into the match against Roman Reigns, who had won the 2015 Royal Rumble.

What's next?

Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar will begin the build towards their main event level showdown tonight on Monday Night Raw. This will be the first meeting between these two stars as part of the build towards their match in a few weeks time.

Author's take

Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar have been part of the same match a number of times and this match has been building for so long now that much of the build-up has already become predictable.

If this match turns into another triple threat to include Braun Strowman then maybe fans could be hyped about this in the coming weeks. It will definitely be worthwhile if WWE mixes this up a little bit and makes it a math worthy of the WrestleMania main event.
