From the WWE Rumour Mill: Former Divas Champion spotted in Philadelphia

The Royal Rumble hype has begun

The Royal Rumble hype has begun

What's the story?

The 31st annual WWE Royal Rumble event takes place tonight from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and will feature the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble match, which means that there are a number of female wrestlers being spotted in the area ahead of the event, including former Divas Champion Kelly Kelly.

In case you didn't know...

Kelly Kelly is a former Divas Champion and retired from WWE back in 2012, she came to the company back in 2006 as part of the revamped ECW brand before being moved over to the main roster when the brand was dissolved a few years later.

Kelly was then able to dominate the Divas Division and lited the title on one occasion before her retirement. Since then she has been featured on E! reality show WAGS since 2015 but her marriage to Sheldon Souray came to an end last year and it seems that Kelly has now decided it's the perfect time to get involved in the wrestling business once again.

Kelly was just 19-years-old when she made her WWE debut, which means that she's only 31-years-old now and still in incredible shape so she was always going to be seen as someone that the company could call on for this kind of match.

The heart of the matter

Kelly Kelly returned to WWE for the first time in more than five years last Monday night as part of Raw and now according to SquaredCircleSirens, the former WWE star has been spotted in Philadelphia ahead of tonight's historic Women's Royal Rumble match.

With only 18 women offannounced for the match so far there are 12 slots left for call-ups from NXT and legends, so expect a number of familiar faces to return and make history tonight.

What's next?

The Women's Royal Rumble match takes place tonight and the winner will be given a Women's Championship opportunity at WrestleMania 34.

Author's take

Anyone who saw Kelly Kelly on Monday night will have commented on the fact that the former WWE Diva has remained in incredible shape. WWE has a lot of slots to fill in this match so Kelly is a good shout as one of the surprises. It's highly unlikely that she will win, but she's a good person for Asuka or Nia Jax to be able to eliminate to allow them to continue looking strong.
