Sami Callihan may soon appear on Impact Wrestling

What's the story?

Former NXT Star Sami Callihan may soon sign on to Impact according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

In case you didn't know....

Sami Callihan wrestled in WWE NXT from 2013 to 2015 under the wrestling persona of Solomon Crowe, a hacker who seized control of the arena lights with the help of his tablet computer before attacking his opponents.

His debut on television was delayed more than planned as he had been injured while wrestling in a Live Event match. His early run consisted of Live Events and Dark matches, with his debut on television finally coming when he picked up a win over Bull Dempsey in 2015.

Prior to his debut, there were teasers hyping his character for the NXT audience. His run in WWE never really started and after many frustrating months, he asked for his release near the end of 2015 and left WWE to return to the Independent scene. He previously worked with Dean Ambrose in Combat Zone Wrestling.

The heart of the matter

Upon his return to the Independent scene, Sami Callihan wrestled for a number of promotions. In 2016 he signed with Lucha Underground to appear on their third season as Jeremiah Crane.

More recently The Wrestling Observer Newsletter talked about the rumor that Sami Callihan was to be signed to Impact Wrestling. Impact has not been doing too well, somehow always entangled in legal and financial problems, but the signing is a big step up for Callihan.

The promotion is still one of the most widely recognized names in wrestling other than WWE, and this may be the exact exposure he needs to get noticed by WWE and get picked up again by the company.

What's next?

If Sami Callihan has been signed by Impact he may work to become one of the big names in wrestling again.

Author's take

Sami Callihan never really got to ply his trade in NXT due to a combination of unfortunate injuries, and not being booked with a proper gimmick. He did not get a chance, and being signed with Impact will help him to get noticed with his unorthodox style of wrestling.
