From the WWE Rumor Mill: Backstage news on the return of Kane

Kane
Kane made the odds even worse for The Shield at Tables Ladders & Chairs this Sunday.

What's the story?

WrestlingNews.co as reported some backstage information regarding the surprise return of Kane to the WWE on Monday Night Raw this week. Word is that most people backstage had no idea that he was returning this week.

In case you didn't know...

Kane is currently campaigning to become the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. He recently hosted an event to help boost the campaign that included Daniel Bryan and The Big Show.

The primary for the election occurs on May 1, 2018, and the final election takes place on August 2, 2018.

The heart of the matter...

The reason most people backstage did not know about the return of "The Big Red Monster" was to prevent leaks from hitting the internet prior to the end of Monday Night Raw. There was speculation that Samoa Joe would be the secret partner for Miz's team since the timetable for his return from injury was getting close.

The WWE did a good job by keeping him hidden as nobody really saw him backstage. Many were expecting him to return in a few weeks from now for what could be one last run as a wrestler with his pending election next year.

What's next?

Kane will make his first WWE pay-per-view appearance since the 2016 Survivor Series at this Sunday's Tables Ladders & Chairs pay per view. He'll team up with The Miz, Cesaro, Sheamus, and Braun Strowman to take on the newly reunited team of The Shield.

Author's take...

It was truly a surprise to see Kane's return. I didn't think he would return as a wrestler at all until after the election next summer. I thought he might come back before then, but more as the Director of Operations Kane than The Big Red Monster.

Though Kane is 50 years old and his best days are behind him, I still enjoy it when he's wrestling for the company today because he has put in so much effort for the company and has been doing so throughout his career. Last night, he showed us that in 2017 he can still make an impact in the company.
