What’s the story?

As reported on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Bobby Lashley signing with the WWE is a done deal.

Apparently, the WWE higher-ups are high on Lashley potentially facing Brock Lesnar in a feud later this year.

In case you didn’t know…

Bobby Lashley performed for the WWE from 2004 until his departure from the promotion in 2008.

Lashley has since then competed extensively for Impact Wrestling, besides also carving out an impressive MMA resume by competing for Bellator MMA.

The heart of the matter

Veteran professional wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer has revealed that Bobby Lashley is indeed headed to the WWE this year—alluding that both parties are set to make an announcement regarding the same very soon.

The vast majority of pro-wrestling industry experts believe that Brock Lesnar is set to face Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship on the line at WrestleMania 34.

In relation to the same, Meltzer noted that following the Lesnar-Reigns feud, Lashley is set to be Lesnar’s post-WrestleMania feud.

What’s next?

Brock Lesnar successfully defended his WWE Universal title in a Triple Threat Match against Braun Strowman and Kane at the Royal Rumble PPV a few days ago.

Lesnar is expected to retain the Universal Championship until WrestleMania 34 and is likely to drop it to Roman Reigns on the Grandest Stage of Them All. On the other hand, Bobby Lashley is currently a free agent and is yet to address banter of a potential stint in the WWE.

Author’s take

Bobby Lashley is one of the greatest athletic specimens to have ever competed in the sport of professional wrestling…and so is Brock Lesnar.

For long, Lashley vs. Lesnar has been a dream matchup not only in pro-wrestling or the WWE but also in the world of MMA. Two of the most dominant athletes in the world, with respectable MMA resumes and excellent sports-entertainment credentials, could face off in the WWE very soon.
